Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This thread has been of special interest to me. I can't tell you how many times my husband has said to me in the last 3 years, "Can't we just once do something for another reason than simply 'because it is good.'" And I constantly have this little debate: are we a ministry or are we a business. Many times I make decisions that don't make money, but take a lot of my time. Now . . . I feel generous with my time . . . but my husband doesn't. He doesn't want me to have a ministry.

For you, Jenn, I think if there is a desire in your heart to put things together into book form you should follow it and let God take care of where it goes. If the work doesn't take away from your family duties, it's a great outlet for what is bursting inside you and has the potential to bless others. (I prefer a book to hold as well. I become very irritated trying to read things on line and end up printing things out to read.)

My dh is the same way. While he believes in ministry, he does like to think of the bottom line, too. He's always telling me I need to write and make money on this area. I always chide him that a) he's not willing to put up with the sacrifices at home to write something and b) it isn't that profitable, because the target audience is so small.

There's another area that makes it prohibitive to print. Some publishers want to keep the rights to the book, which I (and others) don't want. Then cost of printing is so high. I would love to have a hardcover, glossy colored photo book, like a Martha Stewart or Victoria magazine look, but do you know how much that would cost?

'I have a dream' one I am praying that Jenn (or another dear friend here in Australia) fulfills, so ladies I will be first in line      My dream is a book that follows the liturgical year in detail, with background info, activity ideas, cooking, traditions etc. Fancy that I want something fully planned for me am I lazy or what. Jenn to answer your question I believe there truly is a need for a comprehensive liturgical book. I see the wonderful blogs as a stop gap until a book is written that pulls it all together.

I've been mulling over that idea for a while, Erin. I just don't think there can be a one stop shop. I have some ideas on how to be more comprehensive, but what the blog writing has proven to me is that even with a plethora of ideas out there, old and new, each family takes something and makes it their own. So while the kernel idea is not original, the spiral ideas from it vary greatly. And there are many children and adults who have creative juices and like to be inspired with activities, not instructed, IYKWIM.

As regards to the Internet, my former boss has said all along that people expect Internet resources to be free. How many of you are willing to pay for information from the web? A yearly fee? One time fee for download information? Just wondering.

Jenn,

I'm one of those (and I know there is at least one more who has answered on this thread who is doing this too ) who receives in daily/weekly increments parts to a Montessori Album. We signed up via a yahoo group and folks can pay monthly (I think it's $10 a month) or quarterly (that's me, $30 every 3 months) I think she (the author) may actually call it a donation (I can't remember someone else can probably say more). And it's actually called a class too because folks can ask questions via the group about applying the album. The 'class' lasts for over 12 months (we started last June or July, again someone who pays better attention than I may need to chime in on this). I also believe if you had to, you could stop at any time, and you'd pay no more and obviously she'd send no more as well.

So I can see how you could do that...even call it a class too. You send out weekly activity ideas, folks ask questions and more ideas are even shared.

Don't know if that helps in the mulling of ideas...
