It was awesome! So many people giving him a great welcome. God was good - the travel went smoothly. I will post some pictures later.

We were so lucky - we left home after 10am - got Metro parking and took the train in. It was very very crowded but the atmosphere was awesome - just so much love for the Holy Father. It was quite a trek with all the kids - but everyone enjoyed it - the baby did great in the Moby, and my 4 year old loved the Metro ride. I got goosebumps and felt all emotional thinking that the successor to Saint Peter was passing just a few yards in front of us.
And it was an answer to prayer that I felt well and energetic too.
Getting pictures was tough as both Dh and I were carrying (at least 1) child - but I will put some on my blog later.

How wonderful, Marilyn! I'm glad you had the energy! My sister is on her way to see him in a bit. Dh was probably standing nearby to you, with the other thousands of people.

Marilyn,
We were there also, it was so awesome!!! I am so glad we made the trip in. I did not get any pictures of the Pope, ds10 had the camera . But Irene did and the nice man standing next to us is hopefully going to email the pics he took with his HUGE lens.
I got goosebumps and had tears in my eyes. Dd, ds, Irene, and her dd were interviewed by the local Fox station. There was so much excitement and joy in DC today. I am glad we were a part of it!

That is so great for all of you. It is such a wonderful thing to see the Pope even from far away.

We made it too! I didn't know how desperately I wanted to go until it looked like we couldn't yesterday. So I was so psyched when we got to go!
It *was* tricky with five little kids. I did nurse Philip as I sat in the front seat of the double stroller -- I thought for sure it would break! But I didn't want to sit on the curb and lose our spot. A lot of people kept trying to cut in front of us!!
I posted a couple of our pictures. I just held my camera up in the air and just clicked because I didn't want to miss looking at him... with my face behind a camera. So... some of the pictures are crooked.
We were at 18th and Pennsylvania (the corner closest to the White House and on Faragut West Metro side). My priest bil got their at 9ish and saved us a spot. We got there around 10:30 am.
The Popemobile stopped right in front of us for at least 20 seconds. We were so psyched.
Dh was interviewed by a newspaper reporter. But I'll have to watch FOX news for MC's kids and Irene's!!
And... other than family and the Pope ... I saw two other families from our local homeschooling group as we head back to the Metro!

I wasn't able to actually see the Pope because I had to be sure we got at least one picture; which is all we got!

I am so jealous! He whizzed past us going about 15 miles an hour! We were so disappointed!!! But the difficult trek was definitely worth it!
Anyone with pictures, please post! I'd love to see them. (Ours are on our blog.)

We had a great time and got a picture! Unfortunately, I don't have a blog...so I can't post it.

Okay, maybe I exaggerated a little. But it was way too fast!

I didn't go personally but a friend took her 4 older dc and took my 4 older dc with her, and I kept all the littles at home.
She parked at the zoo and did the opposite end from all of you! They got to the zoo at 7:30! She was worried about parking her big 15passenger somewhere in DC and couldn't imagine parking it at the Metro either. Anyways, they did a quick round at the zoo and saw a lot of awake! animals. Then they did a LONG trek up to Mass. Ave and sat right in front of the VP's house next to a big group of seminarians. They loved the seminarians because they gave all the kids free Vatican flags! My friend brought paper and markers and the kids made signs to kill the time. Apparently a bunch of photographers came over to take their pictures when they were doing this, but they don't know who they were.
And yes...he apparently "zoomed" by! Their pictures are all of the back of his head or just missed! They all had a ton of fun but said they do wish the motorcade had been slower at that end!
Oh and they did another round of zoo on the way home!
