Picking up from this thread.
I'm in need of a stroller. My 4 1/2 son doesn't need a stroller all the time, just breaks from long walks, so I was thinking a Sit and Stand might work. But can an infant sit in the seat? He's still in the carrier, and still has floppiness. He's big enough, about 17 pounds, but he's only 4 months.
Does this fold? Is it light enough to buzz around Metro, fold and carry if need be?
I just don't think I can do the long double strollers.

A friend of mine has the sit and stand and I believe the seat leaned back a bit so she could use it with a smaller baby.
I have the McClaren Duo which is side by side and nice and narrow/light. Fits everywhere! I love it.

My sister has this totally cool stroller I had never seen before, but I cannot remember the name of it. It has something like a sling that attaches to the back, so older son would be in the front and your little one would ride in the sling on the back. She said it is really light, only 25 pounds. I will find out who makes it.
Her little one is 15 months and still rides on the slinglike thing in back.
I had a double jog stroller but never a regular double. Carter would stand on the back of my MacClaren and hold on.

I had a sit n stand for 2 kids 2 years apart. The seat did recline almost flat, but then the older child could only stand, not sit...if that makes a difference. I thought that the newer ones had the bar for the carseat to attach?
Wow! That one is a lot nicer than the sit n stand of 8 years ago:)

Was it this one? I saw this a few months back and thought it was a really neat idea.

Jenn,
I have a Sit and Stand stroller, though it is at least five years old so there may be improvements. The front seat does recline, but it doen't have a five point harness so there is a potential for flopping with a younger child.
It is great when the older one needs a break, but I would not consider it portable. It takes up a bunch of room in my trunk, and it is heavy. Nice for the mall or walks, but the Metro, not so much.
I also own a double umbrella stroller. That does fold up small in a snap, but it is more cumbersome to push and the handlebars are ridiculously low (for me). I use it mostly for airports only. I can't even remember the brand as I've had for almost ten years. It cost $50.
I hope that helps. I'm dying to click on the link above but I really, really, do not need to covet another piece of baby equipment!

Well, I own a Sit and Stand, but it is still in the box. I will pull it out and try Seth in it, since our babes are the same age, and let you know how it is. I don't think it is very light. I got it when I was pregnant and couldn't lift my Graco double stroller. But I ended up not using it.
I still need the double stroller since Emily is just turning two and still needs to be restrained. I do like my Graco. It is quite heavy to lift, but pretty easy to push and steer.

If the older child only needs a place to stand and rest occasionally, try Googling "Buggy Board" and see if that might work with a single stroller for the baby.
Also, I know the Peg Perego Pliko P3 stroller and the Inglesina Zippy have little boards on the back for older kids to stand on. Both are small, lightweight (15-20 lbs.) and very Metro-able. They are great for small babies all the way through toddler age. They cost less than the Phil and Ted stroller, too. You can find them used for even less -- but the Zippy added the toddler board with their 2005.5 model (mid-year release) so anything older than that won't have it. The Pliko P3 has always had it.

Jenn,
even though I started that other thread, I never did buy a double stroller yet
I've read that the Sit and Stand is hard if you are doing any hills -- the child has to lean forward, KWIM?
I have decided that I'm gonna save for a Instep Double Jogging Stroller, since I mostly want a stroller for walks, and I am in a hilly area.
I hear ya about the long doubles. I am borrowing a Graco DuoGlider and canNOT push it up any kind of hill. It's really hard for me to steer too (but i'm smallish --5'4") -- if it veers a bit, which it does alot, it takes a couple yards and quite a bit of arm strength to get it back straight. Also any bumpy terrain, even grass, is hard.
Just my opinion. (but also this is an older Graco too)
Oh, and the one that Celeste linked to is the one I covet , that and the Kidz Kargo one.

Jenn - somewhere in my basement I have a side by side stroller - it is >8 years old as it was mine with the twins - you would be welcome to have it - I would have to check what brand - Graco I believe - but I think the seats recline. I will check it out in the next couple of days. Not sure if it will be large enough for your older guy - I will try my 4 yr old in and see if he fits. I do not think it is that light either.

Thank you for the suggestions -- some are really neat. I'll have to look around today. My 4yo does not rest, or sleep, but just sometimes needs to take a load off. I don't want to buy something that he won't really be using the seat, and have to lug that extra seat, IYKWIM. Plus I don't want to spend money. But I have lots of upcoming events this summer that I'll need to be a little more portable and flexible.

I'm back again. Can you tell what I'm doing today? I need to see these in person (in between Pope viewings), of course, but the Joovy and Peg Perego seem to be forerunners. The only thing is Joovy doesn't sound very portable. The reviews for both seem very good.
Can anyone remember if you HAVE to fold up strollers on Metro? When you have a car seat in a stroller one can't really fold it up anyway, no matter what kind. I

This is the one my girlfriend just got. She loves it. She used to have a Sit 'n Stand, but she says the Joovy is much easier to steer.

that is a great deal!
I thank you so much for going through all this for me! It's hard to make these decisions and spend the money. We haven't bought anything new for this baby (as in stroller, car seat, crib) except an Amby (and it was a great purchase).
I went to a local store and tried the Perego and Joovy. The Perego is just a temporary ride, and one cannot stand on it unless the baby is in the stroller. Very light, very convenient to fold and carry, but not really a place for ds.
I fell in love with the Joovy Caboose Ultralight. The 5 pounds lighter makes a huge difference than the original model (but really ups it in price ) I have not seen a Sit N Stand, but from other reviews the SnS is longer and harder to manuever than the JC. this review was helpful.
So, I'm really, really leaning towards the Joovy. My son loved it, and it was great to see how sturdy it was (didn't tump over when the baby wasn't in it). I also don't need to buy another carrier, as mine will fit in the Joovy. As he is about to outgrow the infant seat, this is a better option.
If anyone has done a comparison to Joovy and Sit N Stand, I'd love to hear it! Thanks!

Jenn,
You don't have to fold up strollers on the Metro, unless the elevators are out and you have to take it down the escalator.

Thanks, Mary Chris! And that would probably be my biggest fear of the day, wouldn't it? Please don't be crowded and please oh pleast don't let the elevator be out!

That ultralight Joovy looks super cool. If I were you, I'd go with that.
My older son never seems to need a rest, LOL. I guess that's a good thing because I just have a cheapish Combi for the little guy and it serves us well (though I look forward to the day he's big enough to use our Maclaren Triumph because the steering is sooooo much better!). Sometimes I wish the 3.5yo would sit in a double or stand on one of those toddler boards, though ... it would be so much easier to keep track of him if he did.

FYI - we used the double stroller on the escalators. Going down, Dan held the front up, and I held onto the handle in the back. Going up, he just held it against the step. I didn't know we couldn't do that. And no one yelled at us. It was just easier than finding and waiting for an elevator.
