Nearly 11 years ago my mom became very sick. She lost 20 pounds in less than a month. After a lengthy hospital stay, a tumor was found in her bowel and several other small tumors throughout her body. She was diagnosed with Carcinoid Disease, which is a rare, slow growing cancer.
She has spent the past 11 years with chronic diarrhea, sometimes up to 30 times a day, and never once has complained about it. Her faith and her family are her focus.
My dad called early yesterday morning to say he was taking my mom to the Hershey Medical Center ER, which is nearly 2 hours away, because she is was very sick with the same severity of symptoms that she had when she was first diagnosed with the disease. Her doctor is in Hershey, so she is in good hands! My dad called late last night and said they are still running tests, she has a fever and is still unable to keep anything down.
It’s so hard to be two hours away, and with Keven in CA this week, I may have a hard time working things out to go be with my mom.
Please pray for her…and my dad.

UPDATE: I was finally able to go to Hershey on Thursday...and bring my mom back home with me. She had a "carcinoid crisis" as it's called, when her symptoms become exasperated and quite serious. She is feeling much better and we are so grateful that there was no bowel obstruction. As we walked out of the medical center she said how happy she was that she could walk out without having had "another surgery".
