Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Paula -

Have you tried the mint crunch M&Ms? (I think that symbol over the *7* on the key board was made just so people can type M&Ms ).

Peace,
Nancy

Besides my Pepsi problem...

I love pens (prefer blue ink over black).
Ruled Paper (I think because I like to make lists)
and Calendars (pocket size, printed off computer, wall size....it doesn't matter. I really like calendars to use for different purposes.)

For some reason, pens disappear around here like a matching pair of socks that went into the dryer, but one is never seen again. I purchase pens quite often when we are at the store.

I've only had two, but I could see the Krispy Kreme Raspberry Filled donut as a serious problem if we lived closer to one!!!!!

Like in clear contact paper?

When I was in Catholic elementary school, my mom always covered my workbooks in clear contact paper. So they would hold up. And they did. But everybody laughed at me, cuz NO ONE ELSE'S Mom did the clear contact paper thing. Their books fell apart, then the teacher would hold mine up and say something about how if they had been covered like this they would still be in good shape. Every year. I wanted to die.

She also wrapped my sandwich in wax paper. Everyone else had tin foil, or a zip lock bag. Nope, not me, I had crunchy ol' wax paper.

LOL. your mom's a smart lady, lucky you.

yes, i guess it's contact paper, though we didn't call it that in the philippines -- it just came in these rolls that you have to cut to fit.

i thought of one more vice (though i've been very good at *not* feeding this vice the past few years) -- STATIONERY!!! pretty paper like those at Papyrus, or from Crane.... when we go to B&N i spend 15 mins-half hour just browsing through the pretty journals and writing paper...

okay -- question: a vice is only a vice if it comes between you and God, right? so if you REALLY want something, but don't actually get it or dwell on not having it, then it's technically not a vice.... or am i wrong?

Anyone want a penpal?!?

I'm arriving late...ds' old Catholic school (it's still around, we are just not there) required every family to cover every single book in contact paper on the first night of school. A roll of contact paper came with your book order.

BTW...Add me to the Diet Coke list!!!

Okay, so I STILL can't figure out how to quote from more than one person at a time....

Nancy, I have not tried the mint crunch M&M's, but am adding them to the grocery list!

Laura, my mom wrapped all of our sandwhiches in wax paper! For 12 years my daily lunch was a pb sandwich (No jelly - yuck) in wax paper. Completely embarassing...

What a fun thread.

1. sweets -- any and all *except* chocolate (unless it's chocolate mixed with orange, which is oh-so-good). I've quit liking it in the last year. Don't know why. (I know, I'm weird.)

2. (or really #1 if I'm gonna be honest...):

CAgirl4God wrote:

getting better.. but still a big vice! lol

3. Tater tots. I'd kicked this one, but it's back. I think that we've been eating out too much since Easter (something we try not to do for health/budget reasons, but like Maryan, I'd love to do the donuts/pbj/restaraunt thing daily!) and I'm craving fat filled carbs.

4. Books. I'm making myself purge, though. (Shocking, I know!)

It is often a sign of anemia. I do it too. I am trying very hard to get my iron levels up so that the craving will go away because I am also worried about my teeth!

I've never been anemic, but I love to crunch ice ever since I was very young. And I admit to picking some places to eat because they have great ice to crunch!

I love the library mylar (?) covers! It's not contact paper. My mother did that on our workbooks. One year the stores didn't have plain clear, but the clear kind with patterns, like diamonds. Then our books looked odd and had a texture!

I always wanted zip lock bags. My mother used plastic wrap for our sandwiches, and I felt like such an odd ball. And the plastic bags we used had the green twist tie and the alligator on the box. I can't remember the brand. But no one else had it, of course.

And if these weren't embarrassing enough, we always had hard boiled eggs for snacks, stinking up the lunch box!

What a fun thread!

My vices are:

1. Regular Coke. I never drink diet. I shouldn't drink it at all!

2. Double-shot cappuccinos with a shot of raspberry syrup.

3. Earl Grey tea (along with a few other flavors, but I can always drink Earl Grey) sweetened with a little sugar.

4. White chocolate Reese's peanut butter cups (or, at Easter, the eggs).

5. Let's see. I've got all the caffeine and most of the sugar--oh, yes! Staying up WAY too late at night!!

Nope. I mean book plastic, the same as what the library books are covered in. It comes in a huge roll and I cut off as needed.

My books were covered in brown paper hey I'm only 36 I don't remember contact till highschool But it may have been my mum's thing.

My mum who is 57 recently went to a school reunion. What they remember about her was she was the 'first' person to bring 'glad wrap' to school They thought she was soo cool, like the 'space age.' had arrived.

Oh, I'll have to add in one more vice: yarn.

I'm a yarn junkie especially when you can find it on sale for $.99 at Hobby Lobby. I mean, I don't have the time for all this yarn, but I just love it. The texture, the colors.

Same with pens. I like colored pens--pinks, greens, purples, etc. with a hint of the metallic in the ink.

Oh my!

How could I have forgotten stationery!

And I'm _much_ less effective at not feeding this one!

I couldn't get the quote thing right when I first saw this and now have to second Theresa's addiction. I LOVE sharpies. It's my favorite back-to-school purchase!

My school supply vices are Mirado pencils and highlighters. It's hard to find an assorted pack that gives enough purple highlighters compared to the other colors, so finding purples is my big hunting goal.

Peace,
Nancy
