After taking the red eye home from San Diego last night, the first thing we did was watch AI. DD set it up to record before we left. DD was bummed because she did not record last nights show, but somehow they found out the news. We did like Michael Johns, I'm disappointed to see him go.
I will admit, I fell asleep during Idol Gives Back. I think it is going to take me days to recover from the red eye.
Tim, that is my favorite version of Over the Rainbow. I like Jason, I think he is a sweet guy.

And Jason Castro is still in it!
As you can imagine, there is a lot of support for him here in College Station.

I'm not sure we will even be watching tonight with Brooke gone . The tears that were shed last week.
Actually Dd is a David A fan. She likes Jason too, since they share a bday.

We are really not big Jason fans here...I think his eye rolling is a little odd...not very mature to me I guess. We were sad about Brooke, but figure it's really going to be that David vs. David duel, so they all have to go sometime!

I have to say, we've never watched the show either, but I just got an email from The Aggie Network to help garner votes for him. Can you vote online? Or do you have to call? We don't get any channel reception here at all, so are unable to watch. Help me out here Tim. How can I help a fellow Ag?

I got the same e-mail. I think I read somewhere that you have to call or text your vote during a 2-hour period following the show. But I guess you don't know what number to vote for until the show.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't care whether he wins or not, but if he makes it thru tonight, they are supposed to film a segment for the show right here in Aggieland.

Well, that explains it! Our family is split on whether Jason should still be there or not, but we've been trying to figure out who his strong fan base was! I bet Brooke gets a contract with an evangelical label, don'tcha think?

And I have to admit that I was thinking that Jason has some techie friends who had programmed some computers to do some automated phone voting during the two hour block. It was the only reason I could come up with for him to keep coming back when he clearly isn't one of the best contestants.
Now that I know he has Aggie support, it makes a lot more sense.
He forgot the words this evening and didn't do very well at all, so I assume he's the one going off tomorrow.
After the sadness of losing Brooke last week, my new fave is David A. A few of the girls prefer David C.

LOL I thought it was the teenage girls keeping him in.
Simon simply told him to pack his bags. Ouch!
During an unexpected elimination a few weeks ago, one of the judges said it's about the fan base, not talent. I'm interested to see how large (strong) the Aggie support is.
Until tomorrow......

I think Simon was right about Castro going home. Last night he was just awful. He would have done better trying Clapton's version of "I Shot the Sheriff" rather than Bob Marley's version, no matter what his hairstyle. And then forgetting the words to "Mr. Tambourine Man"?? And it wasn't even during a verse; it was the chorus.
Syesha is good but she's not very original. She definitely would excel on Broadway.
David A. bugs us because he is such a one trick pony. He can't sing anything but ballads and slow inspirational songs. Anytime he attempts anything with a faster tempo he forgets the words or generally messes it up.
David C. is the best by far, not that we're in love with him. The Duran Duran was an odd choice last night. He tried to make it too dark and edgy. Duran Duran is meant to be fun and kind of kitschey (sp?). But he at least tries to change things up a bit usually; sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
I really liked Brooke because she had that singer/songwriters vibe from the seventies. American Idol isn't necessarily the right place for someone with that vibe, though.
Just my assessment of things...for what it's worth.

Jason should go home after last night's performance for sure - it just wouldn't be right if he didn't. My DH has always said that they've got the voting all messed up - people should be calling in to vote for who they want eliminated not who they want to stay. That way it wouldn't be so much a popularity contest as much as a singing competition, which it's supposed to be. I'm trying to figure out what people see in Jason anyway - I mean after those interview clips last night (as well as previous ones) he doesn't exactly come across as the brightest bulb on the planet - kind of goofy really. Ok, maybe that's a bit harsh (sorry Jason fans!). It seems to me David C has the most talent across the board, although the other two definitely have nice vocals, David A being the most consistent and in control of his voice overall. Really, for what AI is, David A is probably the perfect type to win it all.

Last night, I managed to catch both of Jason's songs, while picking up Z from swim practice in between! I agree that he did not perform well, tho I thought "I shot the sheriff" was pretty good.
Not sure the Aggie network can save him this week.

...tho the Aggie network is abuzz this morning with talk of measuring its power in light of Jason's poor performance!

I wasn't really a big fan of Sayesha, but I thought she did great last night and Randy's critique of her second song was just mean. If she goes before Jason, that will be a shame. Right now I would say it will be between the two Davids and either one of them could take it. Depends on the demographics of who is voting. Teeny boppers definitely David A. fans; teens through forties, definitely David C. fans. I like both of them.

David A. may do better with ballads, and according to my 18yodd, who has been taking private voice lessons for 5 years, ballads show the range of your voice better. Our family is split between the 2 Davids. I was shocked when Michael Johns left, he has an excellent voice. Being Broadway fans, our favorite night was Andrew Lloyd Weber night. We were assigning songs to people before the show.
God bless,

Anne you beat me to post on this.
My children were jumping up and down for joy! You might have felt the ground shaking around 10pm.
I was so surprised, and happy I really thought it would be David A. I think David A is amazing but really young and kinda doe-eyed!
So yes lots of excitement here.

I personally think David A looked relieved!!! I don't know, maybe not. But tonight and last night especially (and some of the last other episodes too) he looked SO stressed. I think it was so cute (in sort of a puppy dog way) that Ryan always had to ask him after he sang if he was alright, if he was breathing!!! I can't imagine how stressed he would have felt had he won!!! He'll do great without the title anyways and won't have all the hubbub to freak him out!
So I was most happy with David C winning for sure! (Although I will say, David A's duet with One Republic was fantastic! Much better than Cook's ZZTop combo, personal preference there!)
