This is our first season watching American Idol. We started watching when it got to the final 20. I'm surprised that I am actually enjoying the show. They all have such amazing voices. There was a lot of nail biting at our house last night when Brooke made the bottom three, then a big sigh of relief.

Okay...we are pop culture twins MC. We watch...okay I take that back...I watch and told the kids they couldn't do both AI and Survivor, so they do Survivor but my oldest dd gets a few snippets of AI as she stays up later and can't stay in her room at night (as the youngest dd is asleep).
Anyhow I knew Brooke couldn't be gone...and personally I am glad Ramielle is gone. I'm rooting for David Cook to go all the way!

We're big fans around here. We've watched since about season 3. It's just so hard to find shows the whole family can watch together, so we do Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and American Gladiators.
Both of our girls LOVE to sing and dance, so American Idol is often a big hit. They were both really excited about Lennon/McCartney night and then the extra Beatles night. The older one was really disappointed in the performances, though. She is a total Beatlemaniac, and it was obvious that she at age five knew more about the songs and the correct words to the songs than some of the contestants. She was also disappointed that no one did Sgt. Pepper since that's her favorite song and album (with Beatles for Sale being her second favorite album). The little one got bored because they didn't do many of the songs she knew well or her favorites (Magical Mystery Tour, Yellow Submarine, I'll Follow the Sun, Love Me Do).
We were relieved about Brooke as well. Michael Johns is my husband's favorite, but I really like Brooke. We've commented that she would have had a great career during the 70's singer/songwriter boom.

Kacky,
I had a feeling you wouldl respond . I like Brooke because she is so nice! I agree that is was time for Ramielle to go, she has an amazing voice, but she is so young.
I honestly can't keep all the competitors straight, my kids, they got it covered! I can not imagine having to choose between any of them, they are all so talented!

We enjoy watching AI, too.
I'm trying to get the names straight, but we like Brooke and were suprised that she was in the bottom three last night. DD was SURE she wouldn't be going home...she's asked to take guitar lessons after watching Brooke play.
Ok, I had to go to the AI website to find out their names.....
Our favorites are David Cook, Michael Johns, and Brooke White. Not sure that Brook would win, but we enjoy watching her.

Yes we saw it. I was pretty impressed with that song too.
My ds's thought Heart was very interesting. My oldest plays guitar, he is 11 and hasn't been exposed to too much. So seeing a lady, older than me, clearly rocking out...made his eyes grow huge!!! I thought it was hilarious!

Wow, I am relieved to see a few other American Idol fans here! I was debating whether I should confess my obsession in the "What is your vice?" discussion, but then I saw this discussion, so I don't feel so bad. All six of my children (ages 4-20) enjoy this, but the littles don't get to watch it so much. My husband usually leaves the room...he's more of a Mythbusters guy. I think from here on in, it will be harder and harder to watch each week because they are all so talented, but someone will be voted off each week anyway. We love Brooke and David A.

Dd and I are huge AI fans! I've been watching since Season 3, and dd started watching last year. Last night was a total shocker, but at this point in the show it's hard every week because everyone is really really good.
I'm hoping for a Brooke and David Cook finale. Either could win and I'd be happy.

We're big fans, too I didn't like last night's result-- though I'm sure he'll end up with a contract. That is one cd I would buy! I like this year's group-- very diverse, and they are all good.

OK, so how did I completely miss this when Mary Chris posted it awhile back? I did admit our enjoyment of American Idol in the "What is your vice?" discussion last night, thinking I would be the first on this board to come forward. I'm glad to see we are in good company!
I have to admit that I dragged my heels on allowing this show. I thought that there would be lots of inappropriate content in the show itself and the commercials. I was pleasantly surprised to find the actual show to be very family friendly. Either dh or I usually keep control of the remote and we mute the commercials or change the channel, so that hasn't been a problem.
I was completely shocked at the loss of Michael Johns last night. He has been excellent all along. I thought that the other two of the bottom three should definitely have gone before him.
We watched a few nights of the early auditions, and as I mentioned in the other post, I then decided we would wait for the interesting part of the competition when they had chosen the top 20. I couldn't stand watching all those people who weren'e all that talented have their hopes dashed or their feelings hurt in the early shows.
But we did catch Brooke's audition and we have been rooting for her ever since. I loved it when she shared that she's never seen an "R" rated movie. I thought, "Now, there's our kind of gal!"

we occasionally watch American Gladiator as a family, guess it appeals to this mess o boys more than the singing does. dancing with the stars is out for us. the outfits are just too skimpy (even if that is what is "appropriate" for the dance) dh thinks it doesn't need to be on in the home, since I'm really the only one who enjoys dance!
but if it is confession time, the ONLY TV show that I find funny/somewhat worthwhile (with caveats, of course) is THE OFFICE. None of the kids are allowed to watch it, but sometimes, I am just rolling on the floor I am laughing so hard!!!

Another fan here, too!! I felt badly that he was voted off and that one of the other bottom 2 should have gone instead. We like David Cook, Kristy Cook and Brooke the best. I am kind of tired of David A. He has already won Star Search and some other contests.

to be honest, i have never watched the show, but there is a contestant on this season who is a Dallas native and current student at Texas A&M (alma mater of the wife and i): Jason Castro.
i have only seen his performance of "over the rainbow" on youtube, but i was blown away by his talent. of course, since he's an Ag, i'm rooting for him to go as far as possible.

We were pretty shocked with the result last night, too.
We also do American Gladiators; oldest dd goes nuts trying to recreate all of the tasks.
We have been doing Dancing with the Stars, but my daughter is bummed since her favorite pro went home this week. She loves Julianne Hough, but apparently Julianne's getting ready to put out a country album. I know what you mean, Lisa, about the skimpy outfits, especially when it comes to Edyta. That woman apparently just hates to wear clothes.
Although, did you see Paula Abdul on Tuesday? I think my two-year-old said "Look, she's naked like me" and the five-year-old was wondering what was up too. We all agreed that she needed to put on a shirt, because with that very low and tight thing she was wearing she really did look naked in some of the camera shots.
