Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Glad it's working out! Just an after thought, maybe ask your dh to read this thread and he might gain a deeper appreciation for why you should bring baby along.

I know you are already working this out but a thought might be to nurse the baby before dinner and have dinner alone and then go get the baby after dinner to stay for the night? that way you get some time all alone and the rest with the three of you.   Just a thought? I am not sure how far away from house the hotel is....

Thank you for the ideas. I had suggested that we could drop Austin off while we go for supper, then pick him up again, but the nearest city is 1 hour away...so it seems like he's now fine with taking him. Thank God for phlegmatics! :)

Oh I'm glad.. it's hard to deal with the disappointment.. he sounds like a good guy

You might want to pay attention to his wanting to get away without the kids and see if you can't find more time to give to JUST him without the kids in the normal everyday living.

I can usually get the baby to sleep an hour or two before we're ready for bed so that dh and I have that time without any kids in arms or running around just to be together.

Of course that doesn't mean that we necessarily always focus on each other.. but it is nice to have that time so that we CAN do so.
