Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I love the hat Molly linked to!!! I'm adding that to my wishlist! It's adorable.

I wish I had longer hair for hat wearing - I think short hair does such funny things after being under a hat.

How funny Jennifer, I usually think how nice short hair must be with a hat.. because my hair doesn't allow the back of the hat to get to my neck.. rather it pushes the front over my eyes like the floral bucket hat that was posted.. wouldn't work for me.

I wear a hat to the pool almost every day of the summer. I tend to favor straw hats something along the lines of this one. Away from the pool or beach, I don't wear hats quite as often, but when I do, I sometimes wear baseball style caps in a solid color. Target has them every summer for around $3 and dds and I all have one.

I just bought a hat. I have rosacea and have started new routines to control -- medication and lotion in the morning and sunglasses when out in the sun, and I plan to wear a hat this summer. I also need to be more zealous about sunscreen, I guess.

I don't love the hat I got from LL Bean, but I have trouble finding hats big enough. Most women's hats are too tight, and I suspect I would get a headache if I wore then for too long. My new LL Bean hat should be okay for that. So I have to fight vanity by having sunglasses and a hat to protect mt skin even if they look dorky.

So, here's to my new adventure with my sunscreen (SPF 30 IIRC) hat...

In Christ,
Deborah

Oh yes, all of us wear hats all summer - well, dh won't but I do (usually a straw hat or a cloth one) and ds wears a legionaire's hat and now I need a cute baby sun hat for little miss :o) To be honest I don't care how I look! I am thinking in the summer I will likely wear my hat to church, to cover for mass, rather than take it off at the door and wear my veil, so I will even seem more normal at church :o)

I always wear a hat to church. I have never really cared for lace, and I can't quite bring myself to get a mantilla.

I've loved some of the links in this thread. Sigh. I don't know if I can justify another right now, though.

A belated thank you to everyone. I finally ordered a hat! I got the pretty Lena Marie hat that Molly linked to. I needed something adjustable for my big head.

If I like it, it will hopefully inspire me to branch out into more styles. Something straw.

Thanks again, dear friends!

Well, the hat arrived today. Just FYI, it looks different (nicer) in the picture on the website. The black band around the brim seems thicker IRL, and the whole underside is black. The top part is more flimsy looking/see-through than I expected (and would have liked). I'm sure that keeps it cooler though!

Anyway, just an FYI to anyone who might be thinking of getting that hat.

ETA: On second look, I guess it's not THAT much different IRL than that picture, it just looks so "perfect" on the model, and kind of cheesy on my own head.
