Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm totally in love with the geranium. The gingerbread smells enticing, but to eat rather than to clean with.

I'm definitely interested in smelling basil and rhubarb. The lemon verbena does nothing for me; the baby blossoms hand-soap we have is a favorite of dd12, for me - not so much.

Peace,
Nancy

These are my favorites, too. I like Geranium in the bathroom, and Lemon Verbena for the rest of the house. I really dislike the scent of Lavender...it does give me a headache.

Oh, I've never been able to understand the liking folks have for lavendar. Can't stand the smell at all.

Funny story: When I had MB, lavendar was the scent we had at the moment. I believe I had dishsoap and countertop spray. I was in the throughs of labor when my darling midwife came around the corner and proclaimed: Your dishsoap stinks!! Truly I didn't care a lick at that time...

That's an interesting point. In this year's Christmas lectures at the Royal Institute in the UK, they did an interesting experiment, handing out scented cards to the children in the audience. The host asked those who had vanilla scented cards to raise their hands. Then, he asked for those with urine scented cards to raise their hands. And lastly, those with unscented cards raised their hands. The trick was, each had the very same scent on his card. That scent was a male hormone, which reacts with the brain to bring about different responses from different people.

The point is...Lavender is similar to estrogen (I think--maybe it's some other hormone), and so gets a similar response--pleasant for some, unpleasant for others, neither for others. And there is one study that says it might be a problem to expose young boys to lavender. (New England Journal of Med.)

Thanks for this thread. I had never heard of these products, but I'm ordering some rhubarb!

I like lemon scented things, but the lemon verbena doesn't "do" a thing for me. Guess it'd have to be Geranium...

Well, we'll have to see what the income will allow once we get settled...

Generally, I enjoy the smell (or is "scent" a nicer word to use?) of natural lavender. Some things that are supposed to be lavender scented, but aren't really natural lavender put me off. And I know that the scents in Mrs. Meyer's aren't artificial, but those lavender products smell kind of different (read that to mean "weird") to me. I don't like Mrs. Meyer's lavender. Is it blended with some other scent?

Peace,
Nancy

I've never tried Mrs. Meyers but I do LOVE scents in my home. I almost always have a candle lit in my kitchen. How long do the scents last after you have cleaned? Also, is the countertop spray what I would use to clean the mess off of the stove after dinner? Does it cut grease?

Okay, so my basil and rhubarb arrived yesterday. I ordered the rhubarb spring cleaning kit, and I really love this scent - it is fruity and tart, just like I imagined. Like a stawberry rhubarb pie - not sickly sweet, just enough, very fresh. I put it away until we do our spring cleaning. I imagine this will really be uplifting when we open the windows and clear out the clutter, dust, and dirt. (in other words, I'm looking forward to spring cleaning now!)

I'm having a hard time figuring out the basil. I bought the coutertop spray and all purpose cleaner (to mix more countertop spray.)    The scent is very fresh too, it reminds me of the garden or the farmers market real early in the morning before the greasy food smell wafts though... but I can't pick up on the basil scent exactly. I like it - I'm hoping it grows on me more though.

Melissa, yes, the countertop spray works wonderfully to clean the stovetop after dinner, I spray it on and let it sit a minute then wipe it down. I also use it on our tabletop, it softens the dried on food spills just a bit making it easier to wash. Plus, it all smells really good!

Interesting about what MacBeth said! (I love stuff like that...)

I'm enjoying this thread but I have to admit, now I'm worried that people think my house stinks (I use lavender!)

Our package arrived yesterday too. I have the same reaction...I love the rhubarb; basil is not what I expected. I originally hesitated buying basil thinking it would have a very strong smell like gingerbread. The scent is very light, not particularly 'herbal' like I expected. I'm not sorry for trying it, though.

My rhubarb house products arrived yesterday and I love the scent, clean but not floral....I think looking at the esential oils in the ingredient list gives you a better idea of the scent than the name does. For instance, rhubard is grapefruit and cedarwood oil. Basil has basil, black pepper, eucalptus, and cedarwood...probably the reason it doesn't smell exactly like pesto.
There's an ingredient tab for each product, so that should help me in the future figure out the scents a bit better before ordering.

Now, can anyone tell me how much all purpose cleaner to add to the coutertop spray bottle to make more?

On a different note - I have started using Method cleaners - cheaper than Mrs. Meyers and fewer ingredients - I am VERY fussy about fragrances and I do like the Bathroom cleaner and the citrus all purpose cleaners. Target sells them and now Wholefoods has started too. I am also using the lemon ginger floor cleaner.

Marilyn, I use Method hardwood floor cleaner and love it - it smells like Almonds! :) My daughter cleans the bathrooms and she hated the eucalyptus bathroom cleaner.

I've been using the Method -- and I love the bathroom cleaner. See why there has to be such varied flavors and scents. Give me lavender and eucalpytus anyday!! But keep patchouli and anything like it AWAYYYYYYYYYY

Colleen, Thanks for posting the essential oil ingredients. I think I will like the new scents!

Lisa, I LOVE that almond scented Method cleaner. I bought the Omop and that cleaner and now really look forward to cleaning the hardwoods. The only complaint I have about it is that the bottle leaks when I squirt the floor. Does yours do that?

Jenn, I am with you about patchouli. I want to like it because it is supposed to be earthy and all but it is just a little too strong for me.

I got my order yesterday too. I have to agree, I really like the rhubarb but the basil is not what I expected at all. I think it's kind of cucumbery smelling. Not bad though. I guess I was thinking pesto and Italian food...    which probably wouldn't have made such a great cleaner anyway. Everyone would have gotten hungry every time I cleaned.
