Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Another thing I recently read is that new readers should re-read their favorite picture books that were read alouds.. The literature is often better than easy reader chapter books, and there is something so nice about re-visiting these classics as they read them on their own.

Just adding another idea for beginning chapter books - both my boys liked the My Father's Dragon trilogy.

Is this book one the beginner reader reads or a read aloud?

Not so much a chapter book as an easy reader early chapter-ish book, but Cynthia Rylant also has a series about Henry's cousin, called Annie and Snowball. Seems at the same level as Henry and Mudge.

My second DS read this aloud to me this past year, about six months after he started reading. (My oldest, who is an excellent reader, actually read it on his own when he was 7).
