Yahoo says I joined in Jan '00. I was thinking it was before that, but that was back in my dial-up days when I was "teachingmy4", and I think I may have unsubbed and then joined up when we got high speed internet.

I found out about CCM at that same conference that Mary Chris mentioned. It was my first introduction to the internet!

Yahoo says I joined in Sept. 2002 but I remember unsubbing at one point in 2001 when I got overwhelmed with all the emails.

That list was sooo high volume--I learned quite a lot there, though I was the queen-lurker!

I guess I'm a relative newbie! I joined here in June 2005 and CCM says I joined there in April '05. I could have sworn it was longer than that!

Noreen, after you log in to the CCM group, go to "Members" and look up your member name. The date you joined should be listed there.

I've been here since almost the beginning (I think a month after the boards opened?), and I first joined CCM some time in late 1999 or early 2000. Though I mostly lurk...

A relative newbie here as well, though I've homeschooled for 11 years and followed this style of schooling for most of that time. I subscribed to CCM in 2004 (and 4 Real when it started in 2005) which was the year after MacBeth spoke at our local conference and also brought along copies of Real Learning for sale. I remember hearing about it earlier than that and there were a few moms in the local area who were earlier members but at the time I was very busy in the cyberworld with groups associated with my volunteer work in breastfeeding and parenting. I didn't have time for more on-line groups. And at the time I didn't know anything about Charlotte Mason specifically though that was the type of homeschooling style I had naturally adopted without knowing others did it as well. Now the focus for me is totally homeschool oriented and the other on-line groups are in the periphery.

I joined CCM in Oct. 2000. I remember when this board started. I was thinking at the time "Eh, I'm good, I don't need to go over there..." So I didn't join the boards here until 2007!

Boy, was I missing OUT!!

Glad I'm here now though. I was a lurker for seven years, and now I'm a poster! (sometimes....

)

This is fun to read, Chari! I just looked and I joined the CCM list in September, 1999. I still remember hearing Elizabeth, Michel, and MacBeth at Nache in July 1999. I can picture myself standing around afterward talking with them, holding a paper with the details of where to go on the internet to find the group.

I had no idea what was in store for me back then.

The online community I found 8 and a half years ago has been such a blessing!

I joined November 25th 1998, five days after Elizabeth and three after MacBeth. Looking at the early posts Cindy Kelly was there before me too, and Michele Q of course.

Like Chari I was initially reluctant to switch to the boards, but once I did I realised I much preferred this format.
