Well, and you're red-headed. They've always told me I'd have more trouble and more pain (??? anecdotal? Wives' Tales) due to that. And more post-partum bleeding/difficulty clotting. Have you heard that one too?
I definitely have gotten discouraged over my 8 nurslings and have struggled with persevering each time. My heart is with you. It is no fun to be post-partum and to have this extra trouble and discomfort.
I think my low supplies may be tied to my age and general exhaustion levels, too. I am considering just supplementing every other feeding with this next guy right off the bat to avoid major problems with my mood and fatigue. And if he DOES have CF, I'll need to, anyway. Consider temporarily: nursing, then bottle, then nursing---every other feeding. Although, I know that is against what many may recommend, it can be a life-saver for those of us with large families. It also gives your breasts a chance to recover, refill, and relax a bit (and mom, too)! It has not, when I have had to supplement, drastically reduced my ability to continue to nurse (for years). But every woman is different---of course, watch yourself.
Praying you have joy and comfort with that babes!

Thank you everyone.
This post partum period for me has been more than difficult to say the least, c-section High blood pressure which I am now on medication for - not great for supply. Also PND has set in but with hormone progesterone shots is starting to ease - THANK GOD. I though I would go bonkers. I have such a wonderful support with my dh and children tolerating Mum’s very strange moods.
(I'm considering starting a new thread to hear of any other Mum's that have experienced PND to see how they deal with it. I wasn't going to mention it but as I am feeling at least that I can now talk about it I am curious).
Nina I am doing pretty much exactly what you have mentioned, bottle feeding, some comp feeding when supply is low, and then breast feeding every other feed. It is working out but the feeding is still no closer to being perfected just yet. I’m hoping my nipples will just toughen up and a miracle will take place and from one feed it will all start to fall into place - Delusional probably.
Mary your info has been very helpful. I have pmed you.
Thank you all for your support, advice and encouragement. It is so appreciated you can’t imagine.
God Bless
Chemai

Chemai,
This is the meaty thread on post-partum depression that I remember from a few years back.
Postpartum Depression
You are in my prayers--we just finished our Rosary and your intentions were held close to my heart. Much love to you.

Thank you Jennifer for the link, I haven't finished it yet but it has been very interesting. My PND was quite severe, not extreme, but severe.
Yes Nina "PND is Post-Natal Depression". I am feeling so much better I have to say. It has taken a lot of progesterone shots to get me here but I am virtually back to normal, if you can say I ever was.
We have some great Napro doctors that we contacted when I was at my worst and they sent us a pack of progesterone which given over 4-5 days (some women don't need that much but I did) is the best way to overcome PND. I will be included B 6/12 vitamins and the magnesium, calcium combination that was suggested in the link to boost myself up also.
The feeding has eased a little. I'm looking into maybe a thrush infection as I am experiencing pain throughout the whole feed, which I have been able to tolerate better and so I am feeding more regularly. Anne has recommended probiotics to assist in fighting a thrush issue. Hopefully that will help ease the pain.
It is so good to be back on this board. It is such a great support and a real life line in times of need. There is always someone who will have the answers and advice that you need. It’s “awesome” to quote Mother Angelica.
Anne has been my lifeline to this forum throughout the last 4 months she has been a real guardian angel to me and Augustine. I couldn't have gotten through many a day without her constant support. I am truly blessed to have a friend like her.
Thank you everyone again.
God Bless
Love
Chemai

Aren't those progesterone shots great?? My doctor treated my ppd (we call it post-partum depression in the states) w/ progesterone shots after my 3rd baby was born--I was surprised at how quickly they relieved my symptoms.
Glad you found relief!!

I just moved Nina's interesting question about Progesterone shots and PPD to another thread in this forum. Here's the link.

Dawn I have to agree with you.
They have worked miracles for me. I believe Napro Technology is really a blessing from God.
