Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Thank you all! Chari told me I ought to update.

There have been several things going on with Aidan's care. One of them is that his liver enzymes are elevated -- this CAN mean rejection of his transplant, but usually doesn't, statistically.   Right now his medical team are just watching and waiting.   But it worries me since his numbers have been stable for a long time and I'm not sure why they are up now.

Another is his scheduled Botox injections.   The doctor does not customarily sedate for this and Mary Alice among others has said that the injections are very painful. Sedation possibilities are complicated by Aidan's post transplant status though.   I have to talk to the doctor and get this all settled satisfactorily, and it is not my comfort zone.

I was asking prayers for Aidan's well being (thank you so much for praying) but also for my own state of mind --losing it, that is.    To take one example, I forgot to get labs for Aidan all during December -- monthly blood draws are required for him for the rest of his life.   I have never forgotten before, EVER, since I am very careful about marking it on the calendar and scheduling, etc.   This chilled me and brought up all kinds of concerns -- I am so absent-minded, and I have seven children and some have special needs and medical issues. Can I really meet this challenge of raising them all somewhat OK, without a big tumble that could be of critical importance?   I know Nina and others can probably relate.   There are times, like holiday seasons, where one more thing gets added and then something important drops.   Yet the added things are important too -- it's just so hard to discern priorities and focus efforts the right way sometimes.   I have low energy and I am a sinner who focuses my energy towards "less needful things" sometimes.

Anyway, I wanted to write this out so you have a better idea of what is going on -- if you can spend the time reading to the end of it!    Thank you for your prayers -- I know they are helping.

Willa,
I only have five dc and no medical issues and I forget important things on a weekly basis. My dh does too and I worry that he might develop early Alheimer's because his fatehr has it.

I often blame it on this fast, crazy-busy world we live in.

Just know that there is nothing wrong with your mind. Can you do it? You have done it, dear! I aspire to be half the hsing mother you are.

Prayers continue...

Oh, Willa. So much love from my heart is coming to you! You are speaking my language, girl. Yes, I relate----so, so intimately.   Can we make each other a promise---that we are going to take care of ourselves? I know that phrase can get so over-used and lose it's force, but you know what I'm talking about: we need to be able to take care of these children, and we must, MUST find the strength and peace to be fit for it.   That might take some soul-searching. You have my prayers for that state of mind---you can be sure of that.
