I also want to apologize that my ornaments aren't as finished as I'd hoped... I had the Mary ornaments. I wanted to do a final sanding and coat of polyeurethane (sp?) but there just wasn't time. I let the deadline slip up on me with a few other projects pending that weekend for church, too. So please forgive my rough ornaments and you may want to give them a clear coat of something.

JoAnna....What are you talking about! It is beautiful! You perfectionists !
Mary it was a San Pedro that we both went to the same school, Lorri, I confirmed the schools name with my mom. Our cousins surely know each other.

Ours came today! I was so excited, dd18 and I went through the box, then when dh came home I did again, and then again when my mom stopped by .
I need to find a tree for them! Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions, etc?
They are all SO pretty, thank you all, thank you Lorri!
Elizabeth, I am so glad you were surprised! Your blog post made me smile when I saw it last night.
I was wondering...was there a final list of who made which ornaments? I want to write it all down to keep with them.

Oh what a wonderful package I received in the mail today! I waited for a little while, for a quiet moment to open it with my ds. When we did open them and look through them one by one, I teared up thinking of the beautiful families who created the ornaments for us to enjoy.
Thank you all so so very much for your beautiful contributions. This Jesse Tree is going to be just amazing.
I would go on and list what was special about each ornament but Im afraid I would miss one. My son had something sweet to say about every one, and each was met with a gasp or "awe" or sigh. :-)
Thank you all and thank you Lorri for your hard work.
About the what to use as the tree question...
We used a branch from a dead tree...about five feet high...at my wedding on Friday. We hung paper origami cranes from it. They were favors for our guests. After the wedding, we had fun stripping off any leaves that were left. I had to cut it down to fit into our classroom but it seems to be just the thing for our Jesse Tree. So, for those who have no tree yet...I say take a walk in the woods and see what might be waiting for you there.

Ours came today too! I was thinking of keeping it from the kids until Dad came home but changed my mind -- we were SOOO excited as we opened the package. Yes, we also oooohed and aahhed over every single one. These are beautiful ornaments!
Lorri, thank you SO much for thinking of and organizing this. Thank you to all the families who participated.
Elizabeth, I'm just tickled pink that you WERE surprised.
Didn't Lorri or someone say something about praying for each family as we hang the ornament they made? I'll print out a list and keep it with the ornaments. I also received a package today with lots of usable cardboard in it -- perfect for making a storage thingie for the ornaments.
Totally made my day, everyone (a rough one, dh being out of town). Thank you again!!

We arrived home from a HS playdate and the children were screaming, "A package on the porch!!!! The ornaments are here !" I could not wait to open them. We all sat on the floor and passed each one around discussing it and its meaning. What a "Real Learning" moment. They are all soooo beautiful.
Elizabeth I wish I could have been a fly on the wall when you saw your surprise . Making that one extra just added to the excitement of the swap.
Lorri thanks again for all of the extra work you put into this swap. I finally figured out how the sheep mix-up happened. I titled my PM "sew crazy" as a pun not knowing that it was the user name of another member. I probably kept it in my subconscience . Anyway thanks for everything. You are a dear

Yep, mine came today and I just am so impressed but all the variety of materials and creativity that went into each and every ornament! THANKS so much ....
I'm thinking of either doing a tree plaque (I just got a woodburning kit and think it'd be cool to do a tree in wood-burning and than brads to hang the ornaments as they're all pretty light .... or I'll just do a fabric tree again with strings to tie .... hmmmmmmm
THANKS Lorri for all your work and a bug cyber-hug to Mary Chris for helping package 'em and send 'em out!

JoAnna -- I just added you to the December Delivery Novena! That chart in your sig line was a definite "smack upside MY head!"
Anyway, on to the Jesse Tree -- a few years back when we made our first Jesse Tree (which will be hanging in the my dh's highschool for Advent as I now have a very COOOOL set of ornaments to hang at home! ), I took a big piece of purple fabric -- 17 x 28 inches or so and sewed a casing on one short end (for a dowel). I then took some khaki-colored material and cut out a rough shape of a tree and sewed that on. I then cut equal lengths of string and tied those to the branches -- that's where we attach the Jesse Tree ornaments.
Does that make sense? It's nice because it can fold/roll-up during the year and is used as the protection for the JesseTree ornaments. So I'm thinking, maybe I should just make another one like this?

Thank you to everyone who made this pssible and double tahnk you to Lori for organizing and shipping
These will be treasured by our family for years to come. I am just amazed at the thought and creativity that went into making these. I NEVER could have completed this on my own. I have tried several years and failed.
This will be the first year that we actually complete the Jesse Tree devotion.
God Bless you all.

It was a great idea of Lorri's and it was the least we could do for all you do for this great site!
Ours came today too! My dd and I unpacked each one carefully but excitedly! What wonderful, creative women! Each one is so beautiful!

Got mine today via the Mary Chris express, via the Kacky express, via another friend since I'm chicken pox quarantined!!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! I have never been able to get through the whole Jesse Tree since I've been married (as a teacher I could... funny how that works when your class makes the ornaments!!)
It made me think that making these would make a nice wedding present for a Catholic (or Christian couple).

I'm late in chiming in here...I was traveling for Thanksgiving, got back home on Saturday, and I'm just now getting back on my feet.
Our box was waiting for us when we got home, and I want to say thank you all! What a precious treasure this is for my family. It's obvious that much thought and love went into each ornament. It was so nice to go through and admire each one! The different styles and materials make the ornaments unique and interesting.
This is our first Jesse tree, and we're enjoying it so much! I bought a 2 ft. tabletop tree to use, and it's working out great!
And of course, a HUGE "thank you" to Lorri for putting this together, and Mary Chris too!

Ooops, just got back from vacation and saw this. It wasn't my idea to make a set for Elizabeth. I don't want to take credit for that! It was a good idea, though and I was happy to facilitate.

Amazing! If you were 3 years ahead of me, you almost certainly were in a class with my cousin Kelly. My grandparents still live 2 blocks away from the school. My mom and all her siblings and most of my extended family went to the same school.
