I think I've mentioned this before, probably in this thread last year or the year before, but in case someone hasn't read the old ones, one of our biggest favorites each year:
Boys' Town with Spencer Tracy and Mickey Rooney. It's not technically a Christmas movie, but there is a nice Christmas scene near the beginning so it's become one of our holiday traditions, usually on Thanksgiving night or the night after.
I've been trying to get the original Waltons' Christmas movie, the one with Patricia Neal, made before the series. I was surprised not to find it at Netflix but Amazon has it. That was a big one we loved when I was a child.
We watched one new to us the other day from Netflix -
A Christmas Memory
by Truman Capote, and I think it must be a least partly autobiographical, based on what the narrator says at the end. It starts Patty Duke. Nothing inappropriate except they have to visit a "moonshine bar" back in the woods to get whiskey for their fruitcakes.

Has anyone seen "A Dog Named Christmas"? It's a Hallmark one. Was wondering if it would be kid friendly. (Oldest child is 10.)

BUMP....as we get ready to make those requests from the library, watch Black Friday sales, and watch the tv/cable schedule for upcoming shows! Anyone find anything new or have any new favorites?
I'm plotting my line up for Thanksgiving weekend....we'll have a couple visitors for the weekend, so need to pick a couple for the kids and a couple for the adults!
Our little northern Idaho library has a copy of Love's Christmas Journey!!!!! Seattle never bought it! Guess these gun-totin' back-woods Idahoans are more sappy than they let on!
And, I just re-read this thread and didn't see it on here, although I was SURE I mentioned it last year....we LOVED LOVED LOVED Disney's A Christmas Carol!!!!! We saw it in 3D...which was AMAZING! But, I'm sure equally good in non-3d!

OH! If you have Amazon Prime.. you can watch The Lemon Drop Kid for free.
It's Bob Hope. The movie that Silver Bells debuted in.
Funny. A race horse gambler that would drop false info on the horses.. gets a very big mobster to lose money without realizing that's what he was doing and he has to raise money to save himself by Christmas. Has a bit of a Guys and Dolls feel. But it's funny and sweet in places.
