Praying for you, Donna Marie!  We had a very similar situation with this house and are still struggling with it after over 7 years here.

God so blessed us lately...with renovations to our home...phase 1 as we call it. It was a miracle, really! The whole thing will be debt-free!! We were able to start renovations on 2 rooms that needed the most work..right before Christmas too...who wouldda thought? We had over 3/4ths of the windows that we needed for the whole house DONATED by a lady that had them and was tired of the style...but they are almost brand new and good quality windows to boot...they are beautiful...gotta love that!
I am at my parents home and been here for a week...
I love them...
God love them..they are driving us nuts
although we are trying hard to stay out of the way and
be good guests
our renovations that were supposed to take a max of 3
days are turning into more than 10 and I feel
spiritually depleted. Our former pastor just passed
away on the feast of the Immaculate Conception (also dh's 39th birthday and the first day of renovations) and
they had a lovely service over 2 days that I couldn't
go to as we were obligated to help out as much as we
could and at the same time stay out of the way as much
as possible..figure that one out...I haven't yet....
I missed being so prayerful and part of something so
special..and at the same time I was making cheesecake
for my dh's birthday and served it at 11:30 at night
so he would feel special...if not half-dead at 39
working so hard all day...
When they opened up the walls of the two bedrooms they
found that there was ZERO insulation in them...no
wonder my nose was so cold at night...
We now have updated electric...more outlets,
insulation, new windows that I can wash from the
inside and lots of painting to do...
My dad was starting to joke that we should get a
Christmas tree and put it up here as we would be here
through the new year...I THINK this was his attempt to
be funny...I am not sure..
Please keep praying for us displaced citizens of the
Wonderful World of invention...life keeps throwing us
curves and we keep trying to sculpt them into other
forms of art...lol....
my big white van is iced in for now...I really need
good weather to keep this project humming along and
the kids happy. I am so weary and I really need your
prayers...
Dh is still looking for a new career...keep praying
for him...I have seen so much of God's handiwork in
him that I can't even comprehend the magnitude of all
of our unexpected blessings in admist our huge
challenges...
I could write a book...but I don't think anyone would
believe it...LOL!!

Praying for you, dear sister...I have been through those renovation days...Fortitude, Thy Name is Remodeling. Having been through those "Who has a welding kit we can borrow at 1:00 A.M.?" moments, I can empathize with your stress level...and I will remember you and your family in my daily prayers.

Oh Donna Marie, lifting your sweet family up in prayer. This is a difficult Advent for us with well meaning family as well. Focus on Our Little Lord, His upcoming birthday. The Holy Family was traveling and far from home on the very first Christmas. Praying that you and I both find the peace that will only come from adoring the precious Divine Child on Christmas morning!!!

I am so sorry, this sounds so tough. And yet God is really there isn't He? Congratulations on the renovations. Soon they will be over and you will be able to enjoy them!!! Keep reminding yourself "This is temporary!", it is.
