UPDATE:
Noel seems to be doing well, he is eating frequently and is a good nurser. He is so adorable. You can tell he knows he's still supposed to be "on the inside" because he is happiest when he is on Mommy. He dislikes his bassinet, the carseat, and any other place that requires him to not be cuddled and warm. I'm more than happy to indulge him. We are going for a weight check and bilirubin count tomorrow as he was looking a bit yellow this morning. We sat in a sunny window for a while and he's been nursing a lot, so hopefully that will help. He does seem to be suffering with some gas today, no doubt from my lovely oversupply and fire-hose style letdown. In addition to being defective in birth, I'm apparently defective in nursing, as this happened with my first son, too.
I am still struggling with recovery from the C-Section and subsequent bladder repair surgery -- I got the catheter removed yesterday and I have to go back on Monday to get the stents removed from my ureters. Going to the bathroom is not my favorite thing right now, it takes some effort and is a bit uncomfortable. My abdomen is sore and swollen from all the knocking around they did in there. And aside from all the post-surgery stuff, my breasts are hurting me from all the engorgement issues and my nipples hurt badly when Noel latches on (it doesn't last the whole feed, just the first few moments) and letdown is painful, too. Everything about nursing hurts me, actually. I'm kind of discouraged. Determined to continue, but discouraged.
Please continue to pray for my recovery, both physical and emotional. I am really, really emotionally struggling to process everything that happened with this delivery and trying to wrap my mind around being open to life when the likely result will be more of the same -- difficult, potentially early surgical births with high risk of injury and additional surgery because of my scarring issues and long, painful recoveries. I am scared of that. Also please pray for my wonderful husband, who is tired and juggling work and caring for me, our oldest son and our home, and pray for baby Noel to continue thriving and growing despite his early arrival.
Thank you for your prayers.

Oh you sweet mama you! Congratulations and welcome, Noel! I'm praying for you with all my heart. You are not defective - you are a brave woman and devoted mother healing from major surgery and transitioning into having a new family member who needs intensive care. You are going through so much all at once...you don't need to be a hero! Just do your best to take care of yourself and enjoy your sweet baby.
I've had the nipple pain you describe with 3 out of my 4 children...white nuckle pain...I'm so sorry. Be reassured that this is common. I've come to call it "transitional" because in the early days, regardless of how careful or experienced I was with latching on a baby, I still experienced this pain-ugh! Mine resolved itself within two weeks or so. Your relief is right around the corner. If the pain goes on beyond that, here's a link.
Praying that your appointment goes smoothly.
Love,

Philothea,
You poor dear. I'm so sorry for all you are suffering. I know we'd all like to come on over and take care of you and your family during this time.
Kiss that sweet boy and know that the cyber-aunties are all praying for you both. God will take care of everything. Let Him worry about next time. Just focus on loving and nuturing Noel today.
(((HUGS)))

I'm sorry for all the pain you are having. At least you got a prize for all that you have gone through! (A beautiful boy he must be!)
I'll be praying for you and that the nursing pain will end asap.
