Ok...I just made pasta for lunch and Sophia says, "Oh, the pasta pot. Thank you, Strega Nona."
Well, I guess this wouldn't be funny except on Wed pm, we were all out. A very elderly lady comes over to the children and smiles and shows them love. Then, she asks me, "Are these your children or your grandchildren?"
Now, if my daughter's callin' me Strega Nona and I'm getting asked if these are my grandchildren then maybe I really do look older than I think....
Bye for now,
Strega

Yikes! My mom and I used to get that when she had my little sister and I was 18. Guess who was more frequently supposed to be the mom?
I have 2 stories. One in the vein of being a Strega....I read Old Befana with the kids last week and she was described as being grumpy and always sweeping. I said, "Hey she's kind of like me, huh guys?"
Anthony looked at me sweetly and said, "No, Mom. You don't sweep."
Then, today we had our much anticipated and hard to arrange and worse to get to 1/2 tour of the White House. It was great! I had never been, and I was really enjoying seeing everything. I couldn't believe it was over so fast.
As we were rebuttoning our coats, the 3 yo looked at me and said, "Can we go to McDonald's after we leave THIS place?"

Two years ago we went on a tour of the White House (our self guided tour lasted about 20 minutes) on Ash Wednesday. On Easter Monday we were on our way to the White House Easter Egg Roll, Carter, 6 at the time says, "We're going to the White House AGAIN?!?!?"

Ds, age 2, is discovering all things about Christmas this year. I have some pine-scented candles that he keeps sniffing and says "It smells like stinky diaper!"
He's really enjoying the Christmas carols, although the range of his taste is sublime to just fun. He asks me to sing "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" and wants to hear "Good King Wenceslaus" all the time. And he says Wenceslaus as clear as a bell.
But one he loves singing is Jingle Bells (of course!). We have the Bing Crosby version with the Andrew Sisters...he loves it...as do I. But he and his cousin get together (both 2 yo) and sing in unison, putting in all the embellishments from the recording! J-j-j-jingle bells!

Paul keeps singing Hark, the Herald Angels Sing, so I asked him if he knew the name of THE herald angel. He said, "Of course. It's 'Hark'!"

I just love this thread! Keeps me .
The other night my 6yo said her bottom hurt. She points to the specific area and I said, "Oh, that's where your tailbone is, did you fall on it?"
She looks at me huge eyed and says, half horrified, "TAILbone? I don't have a TAIL!!!"
I think she thinks hers just hadn't grown in yet...

Ok, both my dc said some odd but funny things the other day:
After having read about Adam and Eve's temptation from the Bible the other day (we read it for part of the Jesse tree), I asked dd what God said to Eve for her punishment. She thought a minute and said, "She'll have to be a housewife?" I didn't quite know what to think of that one!
Ds told me not too long ago that the best ladies in the world were me, Mary and his two grandmothers. A couple days later he said, "Do you know who the best pets are? Kitty (our cat) and the Holy Spirit." I said, "How is the Holy Spirit a pet?" He said, "It's a dove and a dove is a pet, isn't it?"

I have another funny story that just happened that I will chronicle here....
A little while ago, after returning from a pre-Christmas visit with some friends, I was cleaning out the van with the children. Joseph and Sophia were in the van handing me trash and Sophia pipes up, "I'm carsick." Mind you, the car is parked on the driveway...not rolling down it. Then Joseph adds, "I'm cleaning-up-the-carsick."
Clever rascal.
Now, to watch "A Christmas Carol."

Yes, I'm resurrecting this thread!
So, Juliana, who will be 8 on March 1, and Isabella, who will be 9 on March 5, were talking about who they wanted to invite to their birthday party after they perused the calendar this morning.
They were rattling off the names of their friends and then started talking about all of the girls from their soccer team...
I said, "Guys, we can't invite everybody and their brother." To which Juliana says, "Mom, this party is just for girls."

The other night at the Epiphany party my boys tried to convince me that the Three Kings names were Baltimore, Caspain, and Milky Way.

Jeanne's math quiz asked: If Beth's ballet class starts at 6:00 and it takes 20 minutes to get there, what time would she need to leave to get there on time? She answered: 5:30. I asked: Honey, how much is 20 minutes back from 6:00? She replied: But Mom, you have to allow time to get everyone into the car! Touche!

caution: those with squeemish stomachs may not want to read
Just returned home from the podiatrist with ds age 14. Of course you know the visit was a science opportunity for all us and the model foot in the office was great. Kyle was a trooper getting his infected toenail treated. The treatment included cutting out a portion of the toenail, which portion the doctor showed to us.
Later Kyle lamented that we hadn't requested the cut-off toenail so that he could show his father. I suggested he sketch it. Kate, his 8 yo dear sister said, "I know exactly what it looked like--it was the shape of Oklahoma."
I could not stop laughing because she was exactly correct

Oh that's funny .
I weep at the prayers requests, then I come here to laugh. I'll never think about Oklahoma in quite the same way.

I agree. In fact I can rarely read the prayer requests; I just look at the topics and say a prayer for "the intention stated inside."
My funny/heartwarmer for today was watching my 3 year old boy wander around the house with his t-shirt pulled up and Barney latched on to breastfeed. We don't have any current breastfeeders, so I'm not sure where this came from, but I wish I'd had the camera handy!
