We'll be remembering Alice's mom and Dawn's grandmother Millie in our Divine Mercy chaplet today. I hope they both recover quickly and fully.

Oh Alice,
I am so sorry for your mother and all of your family. My father suffered from a stroke while my husband and I and our girls were in Canada for the camp that we attended. So I know what you are going through. I will pray for you and your mother throughout my days as I pray for my father.

I will never be able to begin to thank all of you for these heartfelt, fervent prayers.
Mom was moved out of ICU into a room yesterday. She still cannot move her left side, except for a bit of movement in her leg. The doctors have told me the stroke is massive, affecting two spheres of her brain.
We are extremely blessed though, in that she can talk and understand. Even in all this, she is unbelievably pleasant, not uttering a single complaint about anything. Her pastor was in to administer the Anointing of the Sick today and give her Communion--she was deeply moved by this. You could tell it was exactly what she most needed and wanted. My two older girls were on hand, and I was so happy they were there to witness their grandmother's beautiful faith--it is something they will never forget.
Many thanks for keeping up all these prayers. I am already seeing the fruits and know that each one has helped tremendously.

Alice, being such a wonderful writer, you really have to appreciate how much the speech and processing are gifts to still have. My uncle had a massive stroke about 20 years ago and largely lost his speech with only a very limited vocabulary back today. We will continue to pray that your mother will improve with time, healing, and therapy. What a gift to have such a special lady to share with your children!

Many thanks again to all of you who are praying and for your many words of kindness.
This morning, I am wondering if any of you who see this message might pray that my mother gets into a Catholic rehabilitation facility. Access to Mass and the sacraments will assist in her recovery more than anything else, but all three local Catholic rehabs had no available beds when we inquired yesterday.
Then last night, I found out about a possible opening in one of them, and I'm waiting to hear for sure this morning.
Your prayers would help very much as I wait!

Stepping up the prayers for this very special intention!
I can tell you that it means so much to have Catholic facilities nearby in case we ever need medical services. Just knowing that there are priests or sisters there is such a comfort.
