Please pray for Isaac, he is in the ER right now, he spiked a fever of 107.5 (!!) earlier this afternoon so I rushed him in. Dh is with him so I could be home with the baby. They did a throat swab and blood draws. His only symptoms are headache and fever. Thank you.

Lisa, this happened in our family a few years ago. two of my boys were hospitalized with menengitus. All worked out fine, I am jsut telling you this so you could take extra precaution with the baby if need be. It takes awhile for the results.

He's home. His fever came down with a Tylenol/Advil cocktail, his throat culture came back clear and his bloodwork was normal. His only symptoms are fever and headache. A few of the other children have low grade fevers, sore throats, coughs, and headaches. (Myself included) I'm still concerned b/c of the high fever and he got realllllyyyy woozie during mass yesterday. (before we knew anyone was coming down with anything.) Is there anything else we should be looking for? I just feel uneasy about this. They are 'guessing' it's a sinus infection. Weird.
Thanks for the prayers, please offer any more if you think of us, that we all fare this bought of whatever it is well, and that little Mark is spared.

When my first born had a very high fever as a baby it turned out to be a horrible bladder infection. Did they check his urine?

Lisa, my two boys were really woozy, like they could not hold their head up at all. I remember one of them lying down on the pew during Mass the day he started to spike the high fever. they both complained of a very "heavy head". and it hurt to put the head down and touch the chest to the chin. Horrible horrible headache, and very listless and out of it. you have to do a spinal tap, though to rule it in our out. (at least that is what I recall). Since I had two with identical symptoms, the older one took it for the team and underwent the tap.
They were isolated in a wing at the children's hospital, although there were others in the wing with them with menengitis as well.
again, not to scare you, but just what our experience was.
