Keeping ever in my heart and mind the poor mother of 3 who is dying of liver cancer, I ask continued prayers for my father, knowing that God can grant all of our prayers:
My father came out of the chemoembolization alright, though the process took a very long time and my mother says that he looks weak. He goes back on the 15th, and if all went well, they will repeat the process with a second tumor. They are still considering him for transplant. They repeated to him that 50% of those in his condition die within a year. The other 50% die within 2 years without a transplant.
He sent out a beautiful email that had me in tears when I read it this morning. He thanks everyone for their prayers and says that he has certainly felt their effects. He humbly asks for prayers that he will draw closer to God, and that God will grant him the grace and strength to accept His will with a good spirit and a smile. He also asks for prayers to St. Pio, who has miraculously interceded in my dad's life before.
I thank you all for your continued prayers!

St. Pio is one of my favorites. I dragged my family to San Giovanni Rotondo in Italy to see the place he lived, prayed and helped the ill and poor for so many years.
St. Pio is so, so loved in Italy. Nearly every town in our area (Formia, in the south) has a statue of this holy man and it's always heaped with flowers.
Prayers for your dad, via St. Pio, are headed your way from our home, too.

Thank you all! My mother and father were in Rome for Padre Pio's canonization, and they visited Pietrelcina at the time. My father had wanted to return, but was not been able to because of his health. Well, the week after his radio ablation in June, my father was recovering at home and had the huge (and surprise) blessing of having a Capuchin monk who had worked side by side with Padre Pio come to my parents' house. The monk brought with him one of Padre Pio's gloves, and an air of peace and holiness that my parents just absorbed. He spent time with my father and blessed my parents and their house. We truly felt that Padre Pio "came" to see my father, since my father could not go see him. I still tear up when I think about it.

Oh, Janette! I am in tears reading your email. St. Pio certainly loves your Dad. I will be invoking his intercession for your Dad and all of you to have peace and comfort during this difficult time.
God bless,
Marybeth

I wanted to update this thread and ask for your continued prayers for her dad, Bob.
At first it looked like he would receive a transplant, but as of this morning it looks like he probably won't. He continues to ask for prayers for a good disposition and joyful acceptance of God's will.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers-
Tim

Someone always remembers "Janette's Dad" when it's time for Rosary intentions (and there are oh so many of them).

Well, my father was called this morning about a possible liver transplant. He is on his way to the hospital now for tests and prep work, and if the he is okay and the donor liver is okay, he should undergo transplant surgery late this evening. The surgery would take 6-7 hours. Please pray for my family, my parents and the doctors. I wish that I could jump on a plane and be there for this.

For some reason, I only just found this, Janette. Oh, looking at the dates I guess it's because the original prayer request was when Aidan was having his pneumonia and seizures. ANyway, Padre Pio, pre-canonization, was one of those whose intercession we asked for when Aidan was a candidate for a liver transplant. I will certainly be praying very hard for your father. Update when you can.

What news, Janette. Our family is praying for your family. I'll ask my dad to pray for your dad too. I know you have a ton on your plate...praying that your burdens will be light.
Love,
