I orignally found Elizabeth Foss years before homeschooling, through her freelance work online (and look where it led me!) Anyway, I'm almost positive this response, or something like it, came from an article she wrote, several years ago:

"Are you suggesting my husband and I lack social skills?"

I don't think I'd ever actually use it, but it made me laugh, and helped me realize what a total non-issue this is.

I was a single, childless public school teacher when one of my sisters blazed the way for three more of us to homeschool our kids. She told me she was going to start homeschooling, and I was the dumb bristling teacher on the other end of the line, thinking my sister had really gone off the deep end! So, patience with these foolish, uninformed teachers, folks--maybe they'll yet come around!
