yes, I just read this. I honestly never thought otherwise. I don't ever post anything on there that I would not care either way- it seems so "open" of a feel anyway, kwim??
I DO think that it is not an appropriate venue for kids though- without monitoring. We just allowed our oldest at age 15 1/2 to get one- and I am his friend.
I think it is important to be aware of safety issues in ALL areas. I had a friend who prided herself on keeping her kids from the TV, internet, etc, and they had strict media/movie rules. however, by not being on the internet she had no way of knowing that a registered s*x offender moved in across the street, and she had already allowed her children (gulp, and mine) to play in his backyard...

Terms of Use Update
Over the past few days, we have received a lot of feedback about the new terms we posted two weeks ago. Because of this response, we have decided to return to our previous Terms of Use while we resolve the issues that people have raised. For more information, visit the Facebook Blog.
If you want to share your thoughts on what should be in the new terms, check out our group Facebook Bill of Rights and Responsibilities. |

I saw this this morning as well, but had not had a chance to come and post about it yet. I'm glad they listen to their customers.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...While I completely agree with the premise of the author that facebook is morally neutral and therefore in the same category as TV, movies, surfing the net, etc, I wouldn't say her specific points are much different from how Facebook advertises itself (a way to get re-connected with old friends et al). And using facebook to bring attention to the pro life cause or the Gospel in a low key way is not that much different from a bumper sticker on one's car, imho.
Not trying to be argumentative, here. Everyone has their own comfort zones with security and privacy issues and the net, much in the same way that everyone has their own limitations for what they will tolerate in terms of music or tv. I've sat in rooms where I am the most conservative when it comes to tv or movies, and I've sat in rooms where people are claiming shows that I watch are inappropriate.
I've read some threads on other hs boards recently about Facebook that have been helpful to me. It seems that every community has those who love it and those who have serious reservations about it. Its morally neutral. I am grateful that there is room for both groups here.

What I like about Facebook: You can be as private as you wish. e.g., You can limit your profile so that only certain people see it.
What I don't like about it. People CAN search for you, and if they find you, they can add you to their list of friends, and sometimes I don't want to be found
Don't have time to write more, but if you have any more questions, I'll be back later tonight.... |

Do you also use Twitter?
Thanks.

I really like Facebook.
I haven't had much online time...certainly not enough to write thought-provoking blog posts---and Twitter's word limit limits my expression too much.
Facebook is a nice medium.
And lots of my family and friends are on it which is very nice.

Ditto! Ditto! Ditto! My son is 15 too.
And he thinks Facebook is being taken over by the "old" people.
His Oma and i try to respect his space, while he begs his little sister to not pester his basketball friends who accept her "friendship."
And I've learned, via Facebook, that my son is quite the poet! Who knew!??!
