It was good news at the doctor's today. The MRI showed no active muscle tear!!!
The doctor thought that the original mild muscle tear must have healed. The ongoing pain and stiffness is coming from a lot of bruising and swelling in his thigh area that is still basically unexplained. She said it was normally a contact type injury but he hasn't been doing contact type working out for a long time, so ????
But a tear can be a career-ending injury so it's good to hear he can now start gentle rehab activities and that the pain will diminish as the swelling does.
One side benefit is that my husband is taking a much more vigorous interest in all-year conditioning so that we can avoid a repeat, and we will maybe end up as a healthier family in general, since athletics are so NOT my area. For instance, he ordered an exercise bike and is planning to get in better shape himself.
Thank you so much for the prayers. The raw area looks much better today and the doctor thought it might be just a rash from the ACE bandage which had gotten a bit excoriated -- which was what it looked like to us too, but with everything else going on, I wanted to make sure we weren't missing something.

I was so glad to read that all looks better than it could have been, Willa! I've continued to pray for a full recovery, and am glad that at least you've got the "better conditioning" silver lining!

Sean's leg is doing so much better that he is like a different person. The chiropractor signed off on him and said he could even play in the football game this weekend.
This forum is really a wonderful place for prayer intercession. Thank you so much!

Sean has developed another big mystery bruise, not directly connected to any particular event. So he's on the sidelines again until we see some specialists, who I expect will run some further tests.
So it looks like it is nothing to do with an injured muscle (good news) but the doctor and chiropractor are now concerned about some vascular problem (not good news)
He sees an orthopedist/sports medicine specialist tomorrow. Of course, we hope for an easily explainable and treatable reason for this ongoing problem. Thanks for your prayers, and I am praying for all your intentions.
