Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My hand is up, ALice-- does that date me?? also, hearing "vegemite" mentioned makes the Larry Boy song start up in my head -- I have a two year old! -- "vegemite" is rhymed with "outtasight" and "dynamite" there, I believe!

Step back in time with me now my friends--come on you 1980s crowd, you know who you are. Raise your hand if you remember these immortal lyrics:

Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six foot four and full of muscles
I said, do you speak-a my language?
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich
And he said
I come from a land down under . . . .

Too funny, Alice! At that point in my life, knowing this song would be as close to international studies as I got...yikes!

Love,

What are crumpets (like a biscuit?)

Crumpets

I always wondered what a crumpet was.
But crumpet-scrumpet. Here they are called crepes and are more like a thin pancake. You can serve them with any topping you like.

Mmm. Vegemite.

That should be filed under, "You know you are starving when you eat..."

Popcorn and ice cream are mainstays around here...especially on movie nights.

Sorry, Molly. You were looking for healthy snacks, weren't you?      I always read things backwards.

Popcorn is healthy, isn't it? And ice cream (being an ice cream afficionado myself, I just have to say this) has calcium in it, does it not? I can't stand frozen yogurt or preservatives in icecream. I have to have the real thing. You're not going to burst my bubble now and tell me that ice cream and popcorn are on the unhealthy list, are you?!?!?

Those were two bedtime snacks with which I grew up as a child. However, like some of the other ladies on this list, I have had granola cereal just drowning in milk or a handful of peanuts or granola bars (though these can be messy) as bedtime snacks.

Hope you find what you're looking for! Tina, Wife to Gus, Mom to Alex (11), Anna (9), Josh (7), Zach (6), Lena (4), Jacob (2), and a new one due in mid-September
