Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Something just clicked for me. I was reading the other thread and thinking about how I always jumped back into normal activities almost right away with my first three children, but not in more recent years. The oldest three were all born in the summer, so normal activies were staying around the house and playing outdoors.

My 4th and 5th girls were born in January, and my 6th was born in October. I felt a lot more concern about them getting RSV. And actually, we've never dealt with it or any other serious respiratory illness in any of the girls, but I know it can be awful for infants, so the worry was always in the back of my mind during those first winters. That was why we gave up our indoor winter PE class these past few years.

I stayed very close to home for the first few months. Church and small gatherings of just a few families was the extent of our outings for the most part. That said, I did allow friends and neighbors to come in to visit, and even hold the baby if there was no sign of illness. I know that is a risk some moms won't take, but I feel like allowing children, especially those who are not from Catholic, open-to-life families, hold a newborn is a wonderful opportunity to evangelize to the gospel of life.
