Might the latter statement be WHY your son doesn't feel badly enough? Or maybe it was because of the energy he saw you spending on worrying about and helping your sister instead of on him? Either way, your son needs to know that his feelings are not bad and that they'll shift and change as time passes. Mourning isn't a tidy and neat 7-step process. Each of us experiences it in his own way.
God bless you and yours, Jen. And may your sister rest peacefully in the arms of our Savior.

Praying for the repose of her soul, and for your family in this time of grief. May Our Lady of Sorrows comfort you with her maternal presence.

Thanks everyone.
(Tina, thanks for the words. Actually, my son has heard me rejoicing more than missing her at this point. He has also been bathed in words from aunts, uncles, and parents that there is no right way to grieve. He expressed his worries yesterday morning before we saw Frannie or the rest of the family. I think that seeing everyone continuing to live and laugh helped him a lot also.)

Jen, I have been offline but your sister has been in my thoughts and prayers. Praying now for the repose of her soul and for comfort and peace for all of you. It breaks my heart and at the same time I am so grateful that she is no longer suffering. We will remember her in Mass today.

Jen,
I am very very sorry for your loss. Please know we are praying. How are your parents? I was thinking of them before bed last evening.
God bless you.

Jen, I'm so sorry for you and your family. I will pray for you all. My thought about your son is similar to others'...He certainly shouldn't feel badly. There is a measure of joy in the death of those we love, especially when we know they've had the chance to prepare themselves.
Eternal rest grant unto Frances...
