Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our Texas bluebonnet is on its way to you today!

Molly,
I bought a whole stack of them and would be happy to mail them off to anyone who wanted one. Just PM your address!

We are in Oregon, but still having transmission problems. I can get a postcard to you, but it will probably not be this week. Hopefully next week. Is that too late?

We will also be using the Trailguide to US Geography this year. We are going to try to cover two states a week. I am requesting picture books from those states each week. My plan is that the kids will peruse them all week (and I'll probably read some too), and sort them into which books go with which states. On Friday they will explain/defend their choices. I also have the US Geography cookbook and plan to use that for Friday dinners. Oh the plans I have! Will any actually work?

My sentiments exactly. I am trying to simplify as much as possible and go for quality rather than quantity. Thank goodness we hav 4 weeks before starting school - I should have no postpartum tiredness etc by then right?

Re your books on each state - do you mind sharing your list? I have started making a list - am starting with Maine and this is the only one I have anything for as of now. (Robert Mcloskey) I am trying to use the library and those nice ones - cannot think of name eg M is for Maine or something like that - are not in the library

I am also starting with Maine and Massachusetts. I always have more ideas than I can use, and more books than we can read. But here is a list, FWIW

Maine:
Miss Rumphius
One Morning in Maine
Blueberries for Sal
Night of the Moonjellies
The Finest Horse in Town
Cocoa Ice
Time of Wonder
L is for Lobster
Island Boy
Keep the Lights Burning Abbie
Counting Our Way to Maine
Andre
Wee Peter Puffin
Going Lobstering
Project Puffin

Massachusetts:
Make Way for Ducklings
Cranberry Thanksgiving
Paul Revere's Ride
The Wild Horses of Sweet Briar
Letting Swift River Go
The Hatmaker's Sign

Have you found a good atlas of the US for your kids to use. I keep looking, but haven't found one I like yet. Most are too busy--lots of hype, not enough information. I found a newly published Scholastic world atlas that I liked, but I didn't like the US one that I saw at Barnes and Noble.

I can send an Alaska card and an NC one. I am home now, so the Alaska card will not be mailed from Alaska, but it will be an Alaskan postcard. Is that OK?
PMing you.

Thanks for the booklist Michelle. Here is a site I found with state by state books too

State reading list

Re the Atlas - I bought the one recommended by Geography Matters for the Trailguide study - it is the Children's Illustrated Atlas of the United States - Rand McNally - I like it.

Our postcards have started arriving...thank you -we have very excited kids here.

I am feeling guilty as I am not going anywhere yet where there are postcards - I will have to find somewhere local that has VA postcards.

Bumping this up..
At almost 9 months postpartum I am finally starting to get it together

Please pm me as I do not remember who I sent postcards to. I will be happy to send VA and DC ones - now that Spring is here we are going out more.

I apologize for not sending them sooner - it has been a tough few months.

Sue has started another thread too on postcards.
