Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We brought the whole crew with my oldest when we settled him in. As MaryM said, campus dynamics vary. At TAC, children are a common part of the landscape.   The college had a family BBQ as part of the freshman orientation, and in general it welcomes visitors.

Plus, our crew is fine about sticking together in new situations (we have an informal buddy system where the olders keep an eye on the youngers).   There was not a safety concern; the campus is fairly isolated in the countryside.

I don't think it's NECESSARY though.   For Liam it was sad but not embarrassing to say goodbye to us all on campus before he left. Other kids might find it more of a distraction.

MaryG, I snapped a photo of Aidan, then seven years old, crying his heart out in the car as he realized we were driving away to leave Liam for his SECOND year away.    That photo makes me cry whenever I look at it.    He is developmentally delayed but he has truly bonded with his older brother and he feels like he is losing a third parent when Liam leaves.

It is so HARRRDDD...

I don't know how I'll manage when three or four of them are away from home.

I'm weepy, reading this!

My youngests still cries every time his oldest three brothers leave to return to their home, interstate. We have been separated for two years now, due to dh's military transfer and yet Anthony still feels the gap. His brothers' visits tend to be bittwersweet for him.

Heck, its the same for me!
