PRAYER TO ST. GERARD FOR AN EXPECTANT MOTHER:
Great St. Gerard, beloved servant of Jesus Christ, perfect imitator of Jesus, and devoted child of the Mother of God, enkindle within my heart one spark of that Heavenly fire of charity which glowed in yours. Because you bore, without murmur or complaint, the calumnies of wicked men when falsely accused of crime, you have been raised up by God as the patron and protector of expectant mothers. Preserve her in the dangers of motherhood, and shield the child she now bears, that it may be brought safely to the light of day, and receive the sacrament of baptism. Amen. |

Well I went to the Doctor yesterday and my normal Dr wasn't there which was a little disconcerting but I was able to ask for a lady doctor for an examination, she was lovely and very understanding.
This new doctor tried to frighten me (once again) asking me what my plans were for after this baby as I am 40 and have had many problems. He warned me of the high statistics of Down syndrome at my age and chances of having abnormalities and all the alarmist things that can go wrong (which I have heard sooo.. many times before).
I told him the story of my Rosemary (3). After my ultrasound with her the head doctor came in and told us that she had a high chance of being Down syndrome has she had these particular cysts in her brain. They were looking for another sign which had something to do with the hands which they though if she had this would, to them, pretty much guarantee Down syndrome - she didn't have this. I told him that in that circumstance for some other couple that were not open to life they may have very well aborted based on that information, and that they would have killed a very healthy and absolutely gorgeous baby. I told the doctors there on the day, as well as him, that we accept all life that God brings us and that ultrasounds can be wrong and God can't.
Sorry about my rambling, it just goes with the territory I suppose as we have had many run in’s with doctors over the years, all trying to tell us what to do with our children. So I am pretty tough now especially after Jonathan.
Any way all is well. My cervix is exactly the way it should be for my stage of pregnancy and the baby is beautiful. The woman doing the ultrasound just kept saying beautiful, beautiful. .
They think that the discomfort that I am experiencing is just pressure on my scar as my uterus is growing. And I am further along than I thought at 17/1 weeks instead of 16/1 weeks. Not much but it changes my due date to 30th of December. I will have to have the baby earlier with a c/s. So, could be around Our Lady of Guadalupe’s feast day, we will have to see.
I am so relieved I can't tell you all, I have been praying to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour and St Gerard for a good outcome and in each situation Hail Mary's were on my lips. I was expecting the worsts but your prayers, my children’s and I'm sure our Carmelites prayers have been a huge factor in this optimistic outcome. Thank you so much. I think you can imagine how grateful I am. I am going to an ordination in Sydney this weekend and I will add your intentions to my Mass offerings, in thanksgiving for all your prayers and support.
Soon I will post some photos of my beautiful family as I am so blessed to have them.
God Bless to you all.
Chemai
(Sorry this is so long)
