Oh, Dawn, how I KNOW that fear!
I always ask that the Holy Angels will surround and protect the plane (car, train)as we travel. I ask them to go before it, above it, behind it and on all sides and carry it safely to its destination.
St. Raphael and St. Christopher (both patrons of travellers) are pretty trustworthy friends, too. Tell them I sent you... they know me well! 
Praying for a safe journey for you!

Dawn, I completely understand!!! I had the same fears before flying to San Francisco, even posting something on my blog that I thought would serve as a fitting final post if the plane had gone down! (June 1st's Anima Christi). Until that day, I had not been on a plane since 1993.
You are in my prayers as you prepare for the flight in August! The great thing about flying after so long is that it really does "break the ice" of the fear. I would not be hesitant to get on a flight again now that I've gotten past my years of airline avoidance!

Oh, Jenn, do not apologize for being such a good friend. I appreciate the time you took to write up your suggestions! I will look into the homeopathic supplement you mention. I've been taking a daily B complex as I heard it is good for nerves.
I tend to be an anxious person anyway, but something like this can put me over the top. Actually, during the day I can seem very rational about it, and then I have those awful dreams and I know that subconsciously I am still a wreck. 
Angie, I appreciate your suggestions, too. You hit on one of the little niggling things that pop up in my dreams, actually - the post 9/11 rules! I have no idea how to pack so as not to let off any alarms!
Bless you all for your help. I am trying to pray specifically to be a stronger, more faithful, less fearful person and all your words here are moving me along that path.
And I WILL see some of you on 8/11!

Dawn,
I'll pray for you. The fear can be paralyzing. My friend found a medal of St. Joseph of Cupertino somewhere. He was a saint who God levitated. She brought the medal when she flew. She was afraid but she did make it.
Seems several saints have levitated. Maybe you could pretend that's what God's doing to you. (half joking, half for real.)
