Kristin,
Me and my linen covered boxes are actually here in Australia! I'm not sure that is going to be too handy for you!

Yes, Why didn't I think of that?! Sorry.
I got my boxes at Office Works & they were having a birthday sale last week & clearing some stock at half price.
I had a look at them since I last posted & they're not linen, just cotton. Still very nice all the same.
Even though the sale was meant to end last Friday maybe the stores would still have these items on sale because I was told they were end of a range.
I also got some smaller ones - in a really nice red cotton for $2.25 each. I am not sure what do with them yet but they were too good to say no to!
Can I ask - has anyone uploaded any photo's from inside their continent boxes yet? and if so, is there a link?

Meredith, it's just wonderful! What great materials & organisation. I can only hope that I'll have things so beautifully & simply set up - EVENTUALLY! I have to keep reminding myself that I'm only at the beginning here & I can't expect to be set up immediately... baby steps. But, this is VERY inspiring so thank you for sharing.

I agree with everyone --- Meredith, your Geography setup looks fantastic!
Ambermelody, I suppose a trip to Australia could be figured into our geography budget if I could justify a trip there to buy cotton-covered continent boxes!

I wish I could access all of the wonderful things I hear mentioned here that are in the USA - I keep reading in Montessori Makers about a Target sale with mini globes & great cards for $1 each. Too good.

I think I will focus on the Eucharistic presence presentation from the atrium when we get our boxes all finished. The people replace the sheep in this presentation that ties into the Good Shepherd presentation. They are all wearing cultural clothes to hint at the universal Catholic church.

I've just found a CD of National Anthems from all around the world on sale for .50c!!
I've been looking at pictures of beautiful continent boxes made by many here just lovely, Theresa's were the latest I have a practicality question- how do you think plastic 'boxes' would be instead of the cardboard? On the cheap scale I could use shoe boxes and cover like Theresa, but.. considering I have a 14mth old who is likely to tip everything out wouldn't plastic containers with lids be wiser? I know they won't be as pleasing to the eye but this way they could be easily accessed. (We live in a small home so only one shelf will be available-somehow )I could still stick maps on with tape. What do you think?

Erin, I have been looking at a Sterlite 7-Drawer Craft Cart online at Target. I don't know if you'd be interested in something like that, or if you could find something like that in Australia.
7 Drawer Cart
Kind of pricey really, but it would be an option of keeping everything together.

Erin, I am sure anything you use would be perfectly great.
I really like how Katherine glued the maps on to the lids of hers, with the control maps on the inside bottom of the box. Very clever!
And who was it that had the cute multicolored drawer system? I really like that, too!
It's all about finding what works for us, right?
