Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi everyone,

If you have a sec, could you send a prayer (or 1,000 ) our way? I've been having a lot of contractions in the past few days - just enough that *I'm* worried but just under the number that my OBs get worried.    I am trying to drink more and rest more, but for many reasons that I can't get into on a public forum it is very difficult right now. I'm 23 weeks.

And I'll just throw this out there to erase any shred of pride and dignity I have left - I have hit rock bottom emotionally lately. Thank the good Lord I've been through this enough times that I *recognize* these feelings, know they are hormonal, and remember it was silly to feel them last time (like thinking I should leave my saint of a dh so that he has the power to have a better wife and mother of his kids ) It doesn't FEEL silly right now ... far, FAR from it, but I remember feeling like this before and remember seeing the silliness in hindsight. So I can sit and wait it out. But meanwhile -- it is very hard and it is hard for my family.

Hitting post before I can change my mind! Thank you all.

Editing because I forgot one thing: I've also been having some weird visual things going on (like seeing flashing things in my vision, etc). My blood pressure is low so I don't think there is any worry of pre-eclampsia, but it is bothering me nonetheless (and making it hard to drive when it happens on the way home from lessons, lol). I've had some sinus problems those same days so I think it may be related? I don't know. Anyway...thanks again for the prayers. I don't know WHAT I would do without all of you.

Dear Amy

I am praying for you and sending you lots of hugs. Please rest and drink your water. (Just to let you know - that the worst contractions I have had so far this pregnancy were at 23-24 weeks - I actually ended up going in and and getting monitored - but they were unproductive).

I am sorry about all the emotional stuff - I will be praying for you lots.

Praying for you Amy.

The vision things could be auras due to migraine - I used to get them frequently until I discovered the trigger (cinnamon apple tea in my case). You can get "headache without migraine" BTW, they are typically migraines with all or some of the auras but no headache. I first discovered I had these when my left side went numb - went to er to check it out and, after going through a check for stroke, was diagnosed with a headache-free migraine.

You might want to see your optometrist if you have lightning streaks in your vision...

Praying you feel better soon.

Thank you everyone! It's amazing, but every time I ask for prayer on this forum, I can feel an immediate "lifting up". You guys are better than Prozac.

Mary - I'm glad you brought this up. The times this has happened to me have been a few minutes prior to feeling that blood sugar plummet. I bet they are related!

Amy,

I will be keeping you in my prayers. I will be 30 weeks pregnant with #5 tomorrow, and I know what you mean about hitting rock bottom emotionally. This has been one of the hardest pregnancies I have ever experienced, physically, emotionally and even spiritually. On top of that, I have not even been comfortable with my OB care and have had to switch doctors mid stream during this pregnancy, and am still not thrilled with my new one.

I always have sinus problems, and they tend to get worse when I am pregnant. I tend to get light-headed, get headaches, and feel as if my eyes are popping out of my head sometimes, and I do not have blood pressure problems, either. Remember, too, that it is during the 2nd Trimester (I think about week 20 or so) that your blood volume hits its peak, and this will also change your ocular pressure, so that could also be responsible for some of the visual things you are experiencing. Mention it to your OB/midwife when you have your next visit, or even call in advance, but try not to worry. I know from experience that that's hard, but try. I will keep you in my prayers. Let us know how you are doing when you are able to.

God bless,

Tea

Praying, Amy. I have hypo-glycemic tendencies so have to be especially careful to eat lots of small meals/snacks with lots of protein and whole grains. I really try not to let my belly get empty or the light-headedness sneaks in...this all sure can be a lot of work, huh?

Love,
