Hey, if anyone is thinking about ordering the Xyron 900, I just ordered from Dick Blick and was able to use a 20% discount code on the laminator and the cartridges. The code is CCAS. It brought the cost of the laminator to $62 and change and I think the cartridges came to under $18 each. Shipping was reasonable. I can't wait to get mine.
Now, to find a paper cutter...

You're very welcome, Meredith. I was going to order from the sticker maker place but decided to look further when I saw how high their shipping charges would be for me with an overseas military address. I also bought one of the magnet cartridges. That could be fun.
Happy Laminating!

Thank you to all the Xyron owners who posted. My husband bought me one for Christmas, but I hadn't used it until now. It just made me nervous... with all those expensive cartridges, it seemed so complicated and mysterious. Also, having only ever used the thick pouches, I couldn't get my head around the idea of cutting AFTER laminating.
Anyway, you inspired me to take it off the shelf, and I made one set of large number cards and three sets of small ones. They look far better than I'd expected, and of course it wasn't the slightest bit complicated.
After finishing the project, I got the urge to laminate my toddler, to make him easier to wipe clean. But now I'm thinking it might be even better to laminate one side and put repositionable adhesive on the other, in case I ever need him to hold still.

Well, I have no laminator and have been wanting one for a while. But I didn't realize so many homeschooling moms actually have them. I was afraid it was something I just wanted instead of needed. But I end up either going to Kinkos or just not doing it and later wishing I had.
I've just added it my back-to-school list!! Thanks for the suggestions and just for bringing up this topic!! Does anyone have overheads?
Blessings,
Lillian

Are you kidding? I laminate everything - including select Sunday comics! You're in good company here at least.
I don't have overheads. I don't have a whole lot of open wall space either though - we have a very open floor plan, and I'd have nothing to project it on. I prefer a dry erase board, but I have found that it's usually easier for me to just sit down with the child and grab a piece of scratch paper and work with them at the table. That's what I usually do anyway.
I'm glad you're on the laminator train with us!!

Comment and Question....
1. FYI: The 20% off at Dick BLick ends tonight (Thursday, June 28)
2. How well will the Xyron hold up to water. Say, I were to make plant lables in a semi-protected area would they last for a few months or fall apart after one rain?
Thanks for the input!
Betsy

This is for *an* accessory, not the laminator itself. I'm pretty sure the Amazon and the DickBlick is the big daddy itself
We had simply nothing else to do if you really want to know
Hugs!

Newbie here...
Just wanted to say that I recently bought my laminator (Duck 9") from Walmart on clearance. I paid $15, then they were marked down to $9 last week. I found the letter size marked $4, the photo size pkg 75 cents, and the business card pkg for 50 cents. I bought the letter size pkgs. a few weeks ago, so they didn't last for further markdown.
I'm not a super laminator but this one seems to be working for me so far without any problems. Hope this helps someone looking for a deal on a laminator.

Do I want the single-sided or two-sided laminator cartridges for the Xyron?

You definately want the two-sided, ortherwise it won't be laminated, but a sticker (I think). It should be pretty clear on the box (that is if you're looking on a box ). Mine is two-sided! Clear as mud

Another quick question for Xyron 900 owners. Other than the 'two-sided lamination 50' cartridge' and the 'laminate/magnet 10' cartridge' which other cartridges have you purchased?
There are so many varieties to the adhesive cartridges Which one do you recommend?

Hi, Leslie :-)
Where did you find the Xyron? I priced it around town, but it was a bit high. Any suggestions?
