Please pray for my dds' 11 yo friend, who lives next door. She has been having joint pain that has gotten progressively worse over the past 3-4 days. It's to the point that she cannot walk without assistance. She spent last night in the emergency room and was back at the doctor's office this morning. They are testing for all sorts of things including lyme disease. Her mom is very worried that it might be something chronic like rheumatoid arthritis. You see, this friend already has type 1 diabetes and celiac disease. Her life is already filled with many, many crosses. Her mom feels overwhelmed thinking that this could be another related auto-immune disease and is worried about how her daughter will deal with it.
Please pray that the doctors can diagnose this soon, and that this is not chronic and our friend is healed of this soon. And please pray for grace for the entire family, whatever the outcome.

Well, after much testing and many doctors visits, our friends have some answers to their 11yo's debilitating joint pain. Apparently she was exposed to strep at some point and it has likely caused either rheumatic fever or post-streptococcal reactive arthritis. From what I understand, the arthritic pain and swelling should get better with time, and high doses of motrin are helping her to gain some mobility in the mean time. Heart damage usually accompanies rheumatic fever, so please pray that her heart stays as healthy as it has shown to be in the testing done this week. She will need ongoing antibiotics to be sure she does not get another strep infection, which could do some serious heart damage in the future.
She is normally a very active child who loves sports and playing piano, none of which she can do at present. She is having trouble with all of this, on top of her other diseases. Please pray for this dear girl's faith and emotional health, along with her physical healing.

I will include her in my prayers. I had no idea that strep could do this to a person.
My oldest dd had strep this past March and we'd never had that before.
Scary stuff.
