I thought you all might want to see these cute little baby shoes I have been making lately:
I started out with this shoe patten but I have modified it and combined it with some others so I kind of have a hybrid now.
Aren't they darling? And they stay on!

Oh my goodness yes _ I think these are going to be my standard baby gift for some time to come. The possibilities are endless. My dd may end up with more shoes than Imelda Marcos

Michele,
How did you modify the pattern? Is it something you could scan? And what weight fabric is that? It looks heavy-ish. I love those and I so need to find something for Karoline's tootsies.

They are darling!!! I wish you sold them...they would be a great baby gift for a friend who just had her first daughter.

Yes I'm going to put the pattern into a PDF file and upload it to my blog. Look for it in a few days.

No it's a lightweight cotton - from JoAnn's quilting section. It IS self lined but they really are nice and cool.

They are a CINCH to make really. I will do a tutorial with the pattern. They go together really fast.

Oh wait - the bottom pair IS a heavier fabric the top is the lightweight cotton. Sorry about that.
You only need a tiny bit of fabric to do these (1/2 yard is plenty) and I'm going to make leather bottomed ones for when she starts walking.

LOL Brenda! I'm not homeschooling 10 children - 3 of my children are done school and the 6 month old & almost 3 yr. old aren't school age yet. My 5 yo ds does a tiny amount but he's still very much in play mode so there's really very little formal lesson time for him. That leaves my 7yo dd (who requires the most attention lessons wise - but we do very shorts bursts throughout the day) and my (nearly) 11 yo dd & 12 yo ds both of whom are very self motivated in their schoolwork and then my 14 yr. old ds who also does most of his work alone but gets math and grammar help from dad and older brothers. So you see I'm not as busy as you might imagine.
And no I don't read and sew at the same time. Mary I am amazed that you can knit and read!

Michelle, those are so cute! The pink ones are so dainty. They remind me of the Bobux and Robeez shoes. Do they have elastic for around the ankle to keep them on? I loved those shoes for my kids before they were walking, and during the "cruising" phase.
I love seeing all that you sew for your kids!

Can't wait for the tutorial. I have a brand new niece who must have 2 or 3 or TEN pairs of these! They are gorgeous.

Sorry all but the pdf pattern and tutorial will have to wait until next week. I just haven't had the time to finish it this week. Yesterday was the RCIA picnic (and last Wednesday night I have to be out until August!) AND I had a surprise visitor for the day.
Tomorrow morning I leave for Minn./St. Paul so today means last minute details (packing, running errands making sure there's food for the boys etc., plus filling orders,).
God bless!
