Congrats to and prayers for you, too, Colleen! I love the names of your children. I have a very intimate connection to that 3rd right-smack-in-the-middle name of yours!

Congratulations, Colleen!
I was born on June 16... which was also my dear mother's birthday. My dd #2 was born on 6/17! It is such a nice time of year for birthdays.

Oh my--no way! We think alike.....
I believe it, though---such GREAT names! My Kate is really Catherine, and my Maggie really Magdalene. SO they get two great names...not to mention their middle names! What is your Brendan's middle name? My dh is Brendan Patrick---how's that for Irish?

My ds is Brendan Connell, which is my maiden name...My siblings are Kevin Patrick, Stephen Olan, Shannon Patrice, Kieran Irene, and I am Colleen Erin...among the grandchildren there are a Ryan, Brigid, Sean, Kyle, Nolan, Peyton, Patrick, Kaitlyn, Mallory....plus my boys...lots of Irish names. I love how they all sound together, although I must admit that at the 24th grandchild, it's getting tricky to find unused names that don't sound a lot like someone's name.

Oh goodness Lisa, I have a very dear friend with 6 children:
Cullen,
Breck, (girl)
Orin
Aiden
Brady (died a few days before birth)
Quinley (girl)
Little Quinley was given that name because if Brady had lived (baby number 5)they would have named him Quinten. She was conceived not long after their terrible loss.
So these two mums think alike when it comes to baby naming...

Our newest little one is due near the feast of St. Diarmud (Dermott). I love that name. And Aoife, I've always loved that one for a little gal.
Blessings,

Here's hoping you have a girl, Colleen! Nina, we have a Magdalena whom we call Lena. And, though we have not a trice of Irish blood, we named one of our miscarriges Brendan Christopher.
So far, when I'm expecting a girl, I hone in on a particular girl's name. When I'm expecting a boy, I don't have such a strong bent. I think of names for boys and girls.

Nissa, I need a pronunciation guide for your pick of girls' names. Maybe you could phonetically spell it for me? I'm sure it's lyrical ...

Oh, Tina! I'm so glad you have a Magdalena! I don't know *anyone* (nor does my daughter) with a Magadalene. I love Lena as a nickname!
And Brendan Christopher is a beautiful profound choice, as St. Brendan is the patron of "sailors" and Christopher of "travel"---your little guy "sailed through/traveled on", right?....

Nina--We are kindred spirits when it comes to names...
Boys names I love and still have not yet used
Roanan, Aidan, Liam, Callum, Seamus....I'm kind of hoping I won't get to use them this time either...but, if it's another boy, I am prepared with some very cool name choices!

Yes, that's exactly right. I kept trying to explain the choice, but then deleted my words as they sounded so flip. Brendan the navigator ... you know?
What's the general concensus on naming living children the same name as a deceased one? Would that be like naming two of your children the same? It's not as if you're calling each of them out loud, though you would be praying to one and perhaps about the other ... just thinking out loud.

Aoife is pronounced Ee-fah. It's Gaelic for Eve.
Nina, I love the name Fiona - my oldest daughter has chosen that for her first daughter (Fiona Claire).
I like Niamh (pro. Neeve), which means radiance (love that!), and Finuala (Fin-ola) which mean "fair-shouldered". So many beautiful Irish names for both boys and girls. My husband isn't into Irish names, unfortunately. Says they don't go well with his strongly French surname. Guess what his name is? BRIAN! He was named after his dad's best friend, who was killed in an accident when they were young men.
I'm praying that my grandbabies will rejoiced in some good Gaelic monikers.
Blessings,

We love Irish names here also! I've got a Liam and and Seamus. I love the name Aidan also and that would have been our 3rd child's name had dad not objected! So his is Riley. Tiernan is our 5th child's name.
If I ever get another girl, it'll be Brenna or if another boy comes along, Brendan it will be! I so long for my Brenna though.
Here's hoping and praying for a little girl Colleen!
