If you would say a prayer for my little Katie (2yrs) I'd appreciate it. She's been vomiting since Wednesday (today is day 6) and when I took her to the dr today, all they could say is that it looks like a virus, though it is not normal for it to go on this long. My consolation in this is that the Dr. did say that she has seen cases where stomach bugs to linger like this, and one of my sons did wake up and throw up once in the middle of the night on Saturday. Thankfully, she's not dehydrated, nor is she losing weight, but I am upset that this is still going on. Everything else is normal, and then she gets sick and feels better.
Has anyone else had something like this happen? Is there anything in particular that I should be looking for?

The only time I have ever had a child throw up for that long was when my daughter was a little over a year and she had a urinary tract infection. We did not catch it right away because she had a-typical symptoms. She ran a fever and threw up just about every time she woke up from a nap and in the mornings. She got progressively worse and ended up in the hospital for 3 days.
The usual symptoms: Fever and evidence of painful urination. Does she show any signs of pain when she wets? For example, whimpering in her sleep, waking up about 15 minutes after she has fallen asleep and crying like she is in pain?
We will keep you in our prayers until we here she's better.

neither. she had a temp early on in this (on thursday?), but only for the one day. at the dr's office, she had a low grade fever, puked while waiting for the dr to come in, and the fever broke imm after. I thought she had a uti a few months ago, b/c she'd complain when she'd wet her diaper, but the area was just irritated. Thank you for the info, Matilda, and thank you for the prayers!

Praying, Anne. It is so hard to have a sick little one, especially when their symptoms drag on or are unusual...which is more often then I like, for sure.

Anne, praying for your little one. Are you feeding her regular diet?
My son and also my youngest brother seem to have sensitive tummies and can't get back to their normal diets. If regular food is introduced too soon, he resumes throwing up. We do a bland diet, or BRAT for a few days after the virus is gone. Absolutely no soy milk or dairy for 48 hours.

I was wondering if that was the problem, too. I'm trying to keep her to the brat diet, but she's got a mind of her own (wonder wehre she got that from?  ) Even so, after a dinner of rice and applesauce she got sick last night. She hasn't gotten sick yet today, but she is more lethargic than she has been this week, and actually napped this morning.
