On May 10th we need to take our 20 month ds up to Bethesda Naval Medical Center to have a simple but traumatic test done.
A little background: 3 of our dc, have/had a condition called vesicouretal reflux, which is reflux between the kidneys and bladder. One of children died from it, one outgrew it, one probably had it but outgrew it before we knew to test for it, and our youngest has it now, but not seriously. We need to have him tested every year or so to see if it's getter worse, better or staying the same.
The test is called a voiding cystogram. They put a catheter in him, fill his bladder with dye, then let him pee while watching on x-ray. It's pretty simple and easy from a medical point of view, but traumatic for the child. I had the same condition and well remember the tests.
Anyway, I'm not worried about the test results. That is in God's hands and I'm fine with that. I'm worried for the baby who will not have this done without fighting. He won't be able to understand what's going on and will have to have his arms and legs held still to get good pictures. I so wish he didn't have to have this done, but with our family history, we must moniter it. Of course, this also brings back painful memories of what might have been if we'd had adequate medical care for our daughter. God's will, but still...
Ok, I'm very long winded today! Please pray for my little guy, his name is Nicholas. The test is May 10th.

The poor dear! We will pray for him. My daughter had this kind of reflux and had to have the test done when she was 9 months old. I couldn't even be in there with her because I was pregnant.
They never indicated to me that this condition could be life threatening and she has outgrown it now.
I am so sorry for your loss and I promise we will offer up our whole day for your little guy!
