I remember one time one of my boys had a cast on just their lower arm and he managed to take it off. He slide it right off. We all had a stomach bug at the time so I called the doc and told them about it and tried to tell them that I would rather come in another day. I was a quite embarrassed when the nurse said, "Mrs. C., we really don't like our patients to take off the own casts." I did go into the office.

It is so noticeable when a boy comes over who has no brother. I always have to caution my crowd to take it easy on him!

This is so true!!! I always get nervous when this is the case because they tend not to be able to handle the activity and roughness level.

After reading all of these posts, I think I'm lucky that my boys are rather tame. I attribute this to the fact that the oldest (7) is EXTREMELY cautious and the younger (6) follows his lead a lot. They do wrestle a lot, of course. I also realize that there may be many things happening in our backyard that I am simply unaware of because nothing major has happened. As it turns out my girl (3) seems more prone to accidents and injuries (she had the first broken bone in our family and the cut requiring about twice as many stitches as either of the boys, for instance). I expect my hair raising days to really begin, however when my youngest boy (so far) who is 17mo really gets big enough. I also have a baby due in June and we don't know if it's a boy or girl. Of course, I will love either, but perhaps a girl will help calm things down a bit?

I shared this thread with my husband, who has then proceeded to tell me a few things that I was trying to forget such as...
"Oh, yeah, my friend and I used to climb up alley walls to get to the roofs --2 and 3 stories high...
my friend used to break into the back of a furniture store's yard, pile up the used mattresses, jump off the two-story roof, and try to land cat-like on the opposing wall...
me and my little brother used to go out in the middle of the night in camo gear in the city and try to hide from the cops..." (all three of them ended up going into the military, 2 marines, 1 air-born scout)
the list doesn't stop here, but I also want to assure you that many of their escapades were possible mainly because they grew up in South Philly... :)
And he wanted me to add that they all agree that they were nuts to do those things and would never do that again -- so there is hope. :)

I am laughing and shaking my head....with 4 wild boys, I always say most of my days are "ER visits waiting to happen"....we have 2 with broken teeth...of course the last one was the night before his FIRST HOLY COMMUNION!! I had to take 2 boys in within weeks of each other for busted lips that looked like they needed stitches...the nurse got real serious when I walked in with the second one, "Weren't you JUST here last week for the same thing, different kid?" I laughed (nervously ) and asked if I got a hole punch on my frequent flyer ER visit card and when was I eligible for a free latte?!? She calmed down...and luckily I had witnesses.
The first two toddler boys pushed their dresser across their wood floor in their bedroom...climbed up and got our 5# of birdseed up there with them..and proceeded to throw it all over the room, from atop the dresser. When I asked them why in the world did they do it...
"We wanted to see what it sounded like as we threw it off of the dresser".
The list goes on...I wish I had an opthamalogist that lived next door...I am sure the sticks will be the end of someone's eyesight!
Poor baby sister, first girl to arrive on the scene...I think like someone else said, she better stick close to Mama, it's a jungle in here!!

oh one of my favorites were when dh and I were talking with the neighbor across the street and I said something about the boys riding down the neighbor's sloped driveway and running into our fence.. and I got this look from both the neighbor and my dh.. and they just said.. of course.
But my 7 yr old GIRL apparently thinks she's a cat.. I saw her jump from a tree.. at about the roofline for height and land.. knees bend.. hands down to balance.. just like a cat.
