This geometry manual--almost 300 pages--costs $27. Not saying that isn't a lot . . . well, for the amount of information inside it isn't, really. (But there have been months when that has been prohibitively expensive--how many ways can we creatively cook pasta and tomato sauce until Daddy gets paid?)

Oh, I'm so glad to hear you are liking them and it does sound like there is a good bit of information in them!! Re-working the little budget I have left, thank goodness I have an awesome library and a very well-stocked home library, as my amazon order will be null this year

I know, I know, I KNOW. I had a plan for a hefty (book) curriculum investment that I threw overboard for Montessori. I'm going to teach with whatever books we (and our library) have so I can invest in Montessori.

Oh, I'm sure it's worth it. But with us having to maintain 2 households for a year until we all move, money is beyond tight. I spent all of the grant money on materials for JBug (which was what the grant was for) and ds will be able to use SOME of it, but I would dearly love to get all of the geometry manuals and all the required materials for him.I think he is SO ripe for geometry this year.
Oh, well. We will have to wing it and as usual and I will be coming here for ideas!

Can I just be clueless and ask what the benefit would be to having these types of manuals over what you'd get through Karen's class or for free online?

Jordan- the manuals being discussed are for elementary age- so for older children than the free online manuals cover, or those offered by Karen Tyler in her 3-6 training class. Hopefully in the fall she will offer an elementary class- if it is anything like her 3-6 class it would be a much more budget-friendly way to get the info contained in the R&D manuals. At least that is why I am so excited about it- b/c I would love to buy all the R&D elementary manuals but like everyone else I am out of homeschool money and am now looking around my house for things to sell on cathswap and ebay.

Thanks for the clarification, Andrea.
I hope Karen will offer that elementary class in the fall for you guys.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has the R&D Manuals how things are going. Has anyone had a chance to look through the math 1 manual or language manuals? Is the amount of material involved very overwhelming? I'd love to hear feedback.

I'm with Jordan - very interested in learning more about these manuals but unsure about them V Karen's albums.
I appreciated Andrea's message that everyone has mainly been referring to Elementary manuals, but I do recall that some of the earlier posts (Eleanor, I think & maybe one other?) were talking about the toddler age manuals too.
I guess we don't have Karen's full set of album's yet, so it's all hypothetical really - but, so far, it all seems very comprehensive (& at times a little overwhelming for little ol' me!) - but I do like the sound of specific manuals for biology etc for the younger ages.
Can anyone make this a little clearer for me?
