Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Laura Ingraham has a link stating that Rosie O Donnell said, that Catholics should not sit on the Supreme Court as this violates the separation of Church and state. Please join me in emailing ABC calling for firing do to religious bigotry and intolerance. Remember Imus-she will only get the same treatment if Catholics rise up and complain on mass....pass this message on to everyone you know. Laura Ingraham show has a link to the ABC complaint center...

This is the text from the Catholic League...April 19, 2007

DISNEY/ABC NEEDS TO REIN ROSIE IN

On today’s edition of the ABC show, “The View,” the discussion turned to the Supreme Court’s ruling yesterday affirming the partial-birth abortion ban. In an angry tone, Rosie O’Donnell asked, “You know what concerns me? How many of the Supreme Court judges are Catholic, Barbara?” Walters responded, “Five.” O’Donnell: “Five. Five are Catholic. Separation of church and state, America.” Walters then said that when the Catholic justices were vetted, they said they would not vote in a particular way because of their religion. But she then said, “It is interesting they’re Catholic.” After others spoke, Walters said she thought the justices were able to separate their faith from everyday life. To which O’Donnell replied, “From your everyday life but not hopefully from the foundation of our government. Separation of church and state.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue addressed this issue today:

“This is O’Donnell’s eighth attack on Catholics since September. She has said there is no difference between radical Christians and radical Muslims (9-12-06); she has ridiculed the Eucharist (9-28-06); she has falsely claimed that the pope was in charge of policing miscreant priests since the 1980s and did nothing about them (10-2-06); she repeated the lie about the pope again (10-27-06); she has mocked priestly celibacy (2-7-07); she ridiculed the Eucharist again (2-27-07); she mocked Catholic teaching on the Bible and the Virgin Birth (3-26-07); and now she is complaining about too many Catholics on the high court.

“On December 8, 2006, O’Donnell apologized for offending the Chinese after Chinese-American groups protested the way she ridiculed them the week before. On January 18, 2007, ABC said of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star Isaiah Washington’s anti-gay slur, ‘We take this situation very seriously, and his actions are unacceptable and are being addressed.’

“Accordingly, we are asking Anne Sweeney, Co-Chair Disney Media Networks and President, Disney-ABC Television Group, to demand that O’Donnell apologize to Catholics and that O’Donnell be treated with as much seriousness as was shown Washington.”

Also...let's not forget to offer up some prayers for her...she is obviously a very troubled woman. She comes from a Catholic background herself, doesn't she?

My understanding is that Rosie was Catholic...I believe her Mother died when she was in the 4th grade and she has severe resentment at her Father for how he handled the Mom's death - which I think is at the root of her hostility.

We will definitely pray for her...so sad to be that angry....

Poor misguided, unhappy, troubled Rosie. Remember when she was just a comedian? Not many are laughing anymore. I don't mean to be putting words into her mouth (a courtesy she can't seem to extend to others),but it sounds like she is saying that no one with any religious affiliation whatsoever should be allowed on the Supreme Court. That would mean no Christians of any demonimation, Jews, Muslim, even Wiccan. Only avowed atheists. Can we safely assume that she would also extend this ban to other public/government officials? The President? His cabinent?   Congress (no jokes about Congress being godless!)? Govenors? Mayors? The neighborhood watch committee?

I don't think that Rosie has the same attitude toward other religions at all. She repeatedly singles out Catholics for this type of criticism. The uproar would be deafening if she made similar comments about any other group.

Again, poor Rosie. She needs to follow her statement to its logical conclusion. If she would have us ban one religious group from public office, she would have to ban all. I stopped listening to her/watching her when she said "Bob Dole s*cks." I don't care if you oppose someone politically, but I won't listen to that kind of name calling.

You know what, I'm sorry. I'm hijacking this thread. The OP was only trying to alert us to a situation and give us the means to complain to ABC. Rosie just really irks me.

what a silly notion regardless of the faith she is yapping about!

What? Only people who don't really believe anything should determine the laws and how they are enforced for everyone?

Aside from complaining to ABC, is there anything else anyone would suggest? I am tempted to watch the show, just to jot down their advertisers.

Thanks for passing this info on.

Why is it always Catholics? Because we have the Truth...and it speaks to people's consciences.

They have to protest it for "therapeutic" reasons in order to deal with the threat it causes to their state of denial.

It is so obvious. And we need to pity.

But yes, it can lead to bias and prejudice (and God-forbid: hatred) in those who are simple, ignorant, or impressionable and celebrity-happy. So: do what you can do to remove her from her place in having the public's ear.....but mostly, pray. Because there will always be Rosies.

I refuse to let her or any celebrities/ public figures steal my peace, so I just stay away from most media. (Is this escapism? )

Hmmm...me thinks this would be very difficult to do...the few times I had the TV on and this show began I could not find the remote fast enough to turn it off.

Rosie really should not be on TV at all....and yes, she does need much prayer.

Rosie was raised a Catholic -- that's probably why she is anti- now! I just get so frustrated with "well, he's a Catholic" or "she's a Republican" so therefore not only should they be shut up, they shouldn't be allowed to do their jobs.....very 18th/19th century England, when there was a law that was anti-Catholic and said that Catholics couldn't have land -- they COULDN'T own land or be in public office!

Why can't Catholics have free speech, freedom of religion, and other freedoms that all the politically correct groups get?

We need to pray for her . She is very hurt and has a deep pain inside . We do not know her issues or her stuff .
This is gossip . We are in partcipating in gossip giving the secular media exactly waht they want from us a negative view of our faith . In defending our faith we need speak the truth and show our posative light .
This is what Matthew Kelly spoke of in his talk to missions we let media represent us . It is happening to muslims as well .
We also must remember why hurt , desperate people have such hardness in thier hearts many many were victims of abuse etc.
Look at us in turn what do we want to do have hardness in our heart towards someone we feel is attacking us .
No leave it to the church etc. to make a legitamate statement .Hopefully it will be open and honest etc.
We do as Catholics have to realize our church needs much healing and cleansing .
What is the point of reconsiliation if we do not pratice the sacrement ourselves as a church .
So how can we do this with people who have been hurt by people of our own religion ?
If we begin to yell and rant etc. how is that going to help a person heal ?
She is God's child and does he not love her equally ?
Is he not calling her back ? So how are we going to help her back ?
It is obvious she is lost , seeking acceptance , not beleiving she is loved . We see in peoples lives by the grace & fruit . Its quite obvious she does not have much in her life just emptiness . Think in the eyes of a secular new age world it appears she has much fruit .Its in the form of media attention , possecions , etc.
I am going to write again on my blog today about abuse etc. and what happens when we cut off our life source / God etc. and why most people choose to do so .
We need to pray for people like this and also do our own cleansing to see if we are particpating ourselves in sin . Often what we don't like in others is something we need to work on ourselves .
Lets also see how can we promote ourselves to the secular world and stop letting them do it for us .
Much Love Roxie

IT GOT WORSE...Please call again and go to ABC's website and complain again!April 23, 2007

BARBARA WALTERS ALLOWS CATHOLIC BASHFEST

Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented on today’s edition of the ABC show, “The View”:

“Two angry ex-Catholics, Rosie O’Donnell and Joy Behar, teamed up with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a self-described ‘Christian,’ to mock the Catholic Church once again on a show run by a Jew, Barbara Walters. Walters professed ignorance today about all matters Catholic, but as it turned out, she was not the only ignoramus on the panel: none of the women had a clue about the subjects that were discussed. It was quite a spectacle. Though there never has been any Catholic doctrinal teaching on Limbo, O’Donnell, Behar and Hasselbeck presented it as if there were.

“Speaking of Limbo (which is never mentioned in the Catholic Catechism), O’Donnell made the point that ‘The Jews don’t understand this.’ The inanities went on like this for quite a while, with Hasselbeck ridiculing her own child’s baptism and Behar adding that baptism is ‘a nice little sponge bath.’ Behar also took a slap at the Church’s teaching on birth control.

“No other religion is ever mocked on this show. That’s because the panelists are respectful of Jews, fear Muslims and hate Catholics.

“On April 19, I wrote to Anne Sweeney, Co-Chair, Disney Media Networks and President, Disney-ABC Television Group, about reining in Rosie O’Donnell. While O’Donnell may be the worst, Behar is an unrepentant bigot and Hasselbeck is increasingly coarse. But none of these women would ever be allowed to get away with their non-stop Catholic Bashfest without the guiding hand of Walters. Walters co-owns and co-produces the show, and is therefore ultimately responsible.”

It's not only Catholics. She has taken many hard hits over the years at all Christians. It is her spot on the View that has really gotten people's attention.

I don't like to hear anyone bash any type of Christianity at all. Catholic, Protestant or anywhere in between.

Rosie is a very troubled woman. I've "followed" her career somewhat because she is from my hometown area of Long Island. Her life story is very sad from the tragic death of her mother from breast cancer. Then s*xual abuse as a child by a family friend. I'm sure there is more.

We pray for her. Clearly she is lost and needs God's love.

But I don't like what she is saying and I feel ABC should put a stop to the constant Christian bashing.

Many Blessings,
Alice

I agree. We should pray for her, but we need to speak out, too. How little did it take for NBC and CBS to fire IMUS (rightfully in my opinion). Well, why should we continue to allow ourselves to be bashed in public.

Gossiping is one thing but reacting to her public comments is a different thing. Why she says the things that she does is not worth discussing. I said my Rosary for her last nite and I will again every nite until she stops with the vile speech. I have nothing more to add, except that I believe we as Catholics will regret it, if we allow her to get away with these kind of statements. Who will it be next- Brian Williams, or a Presidential Candidate?

Holly

Please make sure that you pass this info on to every Catholic that you know.
