Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Kathy, Sarah, Cindy - wow! Were you ever induced because they were afraid the baby was getting too big? My OB still hasn't called me back, but I'm thinking that is what she'll want to do.

I still think I'm going to print this out and take it along with me!!!
God bless,
Angela

I have big babies, no diabetes.

9#2, 9#8, 10#, 10#8, 12#2, 11#2

I have to agree... be upright as much as possible. encourage good engagement by squatting prior to labor.

My last baby was estimated to be over 13# at 40 weeks. He was born at 43 weeks. the u/s was way off.

praying all goes perfectly!

My smallest baby was 8'12. The largest I delivered naturally was 9'14 ( they have been 9'1, 8'12, 9'14, 8'13, 8'13, 8'13, 8'13 ( I was on a roll :) 9, 10'5, 10'4 and 9'9. The last three have been c-sections, but not due to size.

This last time the ultrasound guessed her birthweight correctly to the ounce!

You'll do fine! ( although I think it would be fun to have an average size or small baby just once :)

I should have added I was never induced for any of my pregnancies. I don't know how I lucked out on that one...I never agreed to it and just when the dr's decided they had waited long enough and had one scheduled (I generally go late) the little one made it's own appearance before that was necessary.

Oh, wanted to add my dear friend's #3 babe was 11#6oz., delivered with no episiotomy and no tear! She now has 6 and all are smaller than this one was! No problems with any dystocia or anything. Just wanted to let you know a "normal" delivery is possible, even with a large darling babe!

God Bless,

My first was born at 41 weeks and weighed 9lbs.
My second was born at 42 weeks, 2 days and weighed 11lbs 11oz.
My third was born at 41 weeks 5 days and weighed 9lbs 15 oz.

No diabetes , no inductions and all three were unmedicated, uncomplicated births attended by a midwife.

In and of itself a big baby is NOT an obstetrical problem!

Prayers that all goes well for you.

My smallest was 8 1/2 - number 4. The rest were between 10 and 11 1/2 lbs - and some of these were early, one induced early. I never measure accurately.

Some were difficult, problem births and others were totally okay - it seemed to depend not only on the size but on position and on width of head/shoulders. I only had drugs with one - the last one, an emergency Ceasarian.

I agree with SaraP - large babies are not necessarily a problem. We always joke that our babies look like mini Sumo wrestlers at birth.

Take care of yourself, with both nutrition and fitness and those pre-natal exercises.

Prayers for safe pregnancy and delivery.
