Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Bridget, That's beautiful! Lovely for dainty little girl footwear and feminine sandals, but one look tells me high top tennis shoes, boots and our 15 ds's size 13 shoes just aren't gonna fit!!!

We have shelves and pegboard with lots of long hooks, tucked underneath our basement stairs, which works pretty well. Sandals, water shoes and smaller shoes hang on hooks; all boots and taller shoes are parked on shelves. I really LOVE the idea of having the worst offender straighten the shoe area! We're a no shoes in the house family, too, which sure cuts down on mud being tracked in this time of year. We tend to use the basement entrance during snowy, rainy, muddy and gardening seasons (or pretty much yearround), which is why most of our shoes are parked in the basement!

One helpful tip, keep an instant shoe shine sponge handy (in your vehicle, in your purse, or near the point of exit from your house) for last minute shines on the way to Mass! We've been using these for years and seldom have to do a full polish of dress shoes! If everyone wears different color shoes, choose the neutral or colorless type!
