Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Favorite field guides? for my area? Anyone?

I'm obviously not in your area, Jenn ...but the best luck I had was in looking at websites for local parks and green spaces. One spring, I googled our area's name and "wildflowers" and came up with a number of fantastic hits, including a link to a wildflower trail with wonderful information and images. Thought I'd recommend a few searches like that for local seasonal information.

This site has a state by state listing of local wildflower resources.

Here's a reference list with images for Virginia wildflowers.

231 Wildflowers of Virginia (this is the type of listing I found for our area that has been so helpful because the plants pictured are native to the area and the images make it easy to identify them.)

Hope that's a start. I'm sure someone local can recommend better local resources for you!
