That's really cool, Gwen. But can't decide if it's a waste of a great cup of tea! And from the tour of the CS factory, I know that the red color in the teas is from hibiscus.

This is very cool -- I have some loose hibiscus tea that no one around here drinks except me so I might try using that -- I know the liquid is a dark, deep "thick" red that (if it works) would be VERY cool....maybe we'll try a couple this weekend and then be ready to do a big batch on Palm Sunday!

The red eggs reference made me remember something. In Ukrainian customs these are Krashanky, and Polish they are called Kraszanki. These are the hard boiled eggs of natural dyes that are used in the Easter Basket blessing. Ukrainian old traditions used to be just red ones, but now more natural colored dyes are *allowed*, and the Polish lean toward the ones from the onion skins.

Here are the eggs we colored this year using vegetables, spices and beverages.

Ugh! Why can't I figure out how to post pictures?

You can see them on my blog here. I can do links.

The blueberry ones still faded as they sat in the fridge, but not as much as the first one I tried. Maybe it was the difference between using a pre-boiled egg for the first try and a raw egg that was boiled in the dye on te second attempt.

It made a medium sized mess and the house smelled like sauerkraut all day but it sure was fun!
