Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have to say that when I read the title of this thread I thought it was some Karate kid thing...wax on wax off...

What about calling the local parish?

OR

I found this link.

LOL ! That's something my dh would say...

Actually, it was my parish who asked me about the wax! I volunteered to help wash all of the altar server cassocks and surplices before Advent (what was I thinking ?), but it turns out "volunteer to help" meant "be in charge of"! I am hardly a laundress, and I thank God (truly) for whoever invented permanent press. But the wax is a different story. Thanks for the link!

All I know is you can use an iron and some paper towels and the heat will melt the wax into the paper towels

I was going to say what Rachel said - you can use brown paper bags as well. Lay the towel or bag right on the wax and place the iron on top of that. You might need to do it a few times, but the wax should soak right into the towel or bag. I've removed wax from carpet this way. Good luck!

Yep - a hot iron works wonders - put a paper towel between the garment and ironing board.

At our parish, we sometimes have to remove the wax from the altar cloth! The ladies I work with are very good with hot irons and paper towels. Sometimes we resort to the dry cleaners, but we generally try to handle it ourselves.
Good luck!
