Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've been seeing some really neat DIY cake/treat stands on Pinterest. I'd like to make one (or more). It seems an inexpensive way to have some for different holidays or feast days - like a lovely blue and white one for Marian teas.   Wondering if anyone has done this and what method. There are some that are glued.

Was also wondering if anyone just tried the "stacking & balancing" method? Then you could have a variety of plates or cups and the glass candle holders coudl be interchanged between them for more variety Iand easier storage). But anyone with little ones at the table - that probalby wouldn't be such a good idea. We don't any more so it might work.

I really like this one especially - because I could see this as a way to have interchangeable parts. Take apart and use with different seasonal plates - just have a pile with holes drilled in them for different times.

So what do you think?

Mary, these are lovely and I really like your idea of interchangeable parts especially considering limited storage issues.

These remind me a lot of garden totems, which seem so popular right now! Hmmm, one might use a garden totem as a centerpiece and these treat stands as serving pieces for a shower or holiday gatherings! Thanks for sharing!

I've been seeing them a lot, too, Mary...and like you it has my wheels turning on how to make one. I really like that last image, the one with the coral plates.

I can figure out how to deal with the plates (well, melamine I can...but not sure how you'd drill a hole through porcelain without cracking the dish!)....but I can't figure out how that last one is interchangeable!!

The top is a drawer pull - I can see that, but how are they screwing it into what looks like a candlestick? .............................OH!!!!! Does the drawer pull have the screw attached? If the drawer pull is male, then you'd just need to drill the appropriate sized hole into the bottom of your candlestick (or spindle or whatever it is) so the drawer pull screws right into it. ???????? That's a total guess, but I'd love to figure this out!!! We don't have much horizontal space in my kitchen and I've got to figure out some ways to go UP! And it's SO pretty! AND....if you can take the set apart it makes for easier storage!

I really like the teacup stacking. Before my wedding dh and I scoured little antique stores and such to find teapots and teacups for each table for our reception. It was lovely, and it was such a wonderful time to spend with my fiance. I never paid much for them -- just looking for beauty and inexpensive.

But now I have lots of tea cups and saucers and have been pondering what I should do with them. Most are wrapped up in a box. I like to incorporate them more, and this is a great idea.

Here's where I confess I don't drink tea. Anything black or green tea makes me nauseous. So only fluffy herbal teas that have no black tea (like Celestial Seasonings).

I do coffee, though.

Ooh, very cute. I like the first image. I have a princess house crystal cake plate. While I do enjoy glass and always cut up pretty paper as dollies; it would be nice to have a combo of glass and pretty PLATES!

There is an all thread rod that is runing through the old candlestick base. Any drawer pull should be able to screw on and it would be something that could theoretically be undone and reassembled. Guess I'll just have to try it and see if it works.

you might also use some heavy duty double stick tape.. I use that on my high shelves for things that otherwise might tip/fall. So it might work for keeping things from being bumped and knocked over if you wanted to do just a stack like the teacups and plates without boring holes in them.

I had been thinking of temporary stick options, like removable adhesive wax. A strong double stick tape would probably work, also. Thanks.

I *love* the bottom two pics!! Those could hold not only cupcakes but other finger foods. I like the idea of teacups but our gatherings always include lots of kids, mostly boys. Stacked breakables are not the thing.

My sil stacked teacup plates and little bowls that looked like flowers (clearance at Pier 1) to make a stand/centerpiece for the cupcakes they served at their wedding. It was totally lovely. I wish I had a picture to share!
