Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are blessed to spend the 4th with our extended family every year. It's a large gathering, about 80 people. This year enough of the children are past nap stage, that we are going to meet later in the day than we have in past years. My sisters and I (5 of us)and my Mom have decided that we'll meet after dinner and Dads and teenage boys will light fireworks for all of us.
WE have decided to have a "popsicle party". EAch of us make homemade frozen treats regularly. We are using wooden sticks, instead of our reusable plastic ones and will wrap each "pop" in a cellophane bag and tie with gingham ribbon(I was all for using twist ties, but sisters with better taste prevailed) WE have begun stockpiling our creations.
Our "menu" thus far is:
assorted beverages
chips and salsa, veggies and dip
ice cream/cookie sandwiches (peanut butter cookies with chocolate ice cream) and (chocolate chippers with vanilla ice cream)
and the POPS:
grape
mango,
watermelon
strawberry banana yogurt
key lime
lemonade
nectarine with brown sugar and cream(hands down the best thing I have made using my molds)
Coffee and cream
creamy coconut
I was also thinking of experimenting with putting rasberries in the molds and filling them up with only partially diluted white grape-rasberry concentrate-

Have we left out any flavor groups? Any suggestions? Have any of you tried to make ice cream pops in your molds? How about layered pops?
Our plan is to store the pops in the freezer and then serve them from wide buckets filled with ice. (I think they'll look great on the tablle with the pitchers of lemonade! However brief thier shelf life might be.....) The party is around the pool- so cleaning up the kids is fairly simple."Hey gang! why don't you play Marco Polo?"
Trying something new with such a big crowd is a little worry inducing. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
If it goes well, I'll post pics and recipes on my blog.
Thanks so much,
Mcchatty

We haven't tried ice cream pops but we have been enjoying homemade pudding pops this summer. Just make any instant pudding according to directions on the box, pour into molds and freeze.

Sounds like a fun get together!
